Had my first range session with my new XD-9 today.

I have to say this pistol is everything everyone says it is.

Fired 150 rounds of 5 different brands of ammo without a single hiccup. Two JHP brands and three FMJ brands.

Accuracy was excellent with all brands.

Trigger is very good.

I only wish it was a little thinner, but I'll get used to that.

Sorry BHP fans, but, right now I think the XD-9 will become my favorite full sized pistol and my BHP will move down to second place.

Everyday it's getting harder to resist their deal with the Xtra standard capacity mag and the Xtra holster. I might end up getting one, since everyone's Xd, including yours, seems to work so Xtremely well.

Yes, I have shot a sig and think it is a very fine pistol, but I don't like D/S triggers. The short, light XD trigger is perfect for me.

Although I think the sig is a good pistol, I don't think it is worth the difference in price compared to the XD either.

Pointman, have you shot the XD?

I own two modded 1911s and a slightly modded Hi-Power and bought an XD-40 on a whim. I was not expecting much from the pistol.

Well, about 800 rounds later and I love this thing! It has not malfunctioned one bit and puts 180 grainers dead-center with a 6-0clock hold all day long. People say the 40SW is inaccurate or hard to shoot well or a tempremental feeder - sorry, but that has NOT been my experience. The XD-40 is a very well made, reliable, accurate piece. I cannot find fault with it yet.

I don't know if it replaces my 1911s or Hi-Powers as a favorite, but I am surprised at how much I enjoy shooting and carrying this piece. It is certainly better than the Glock 17 I used to own - better trigger and grip angle.

For the money, these are a screaming deal. You could EASLIY spend more on a crappier pistol.

PS: I owned a Sig 226 and a 92F Beretta and I would NOt trade either back for this XD-40.

I own a XD9101HC. I like it a lot. It's my beater gun. It out-Glocks the Glock in every way for me (grip-angle, trigger, feel, take-down, operation, etc.)

However, doesn't hold a candle to my Sigs...and I have Sigs in both DA/SA as well as DAK.

If you can, try a Sig with a DAK trigger...really really nice.

Cheers!

The short, light XD trigger is perfect for m

Short??? You mean short after a mile of take up to disengage the internal safeties.

I have one, and I love it, but to say the trigger is short, is a bit of a stretch.

Yes, Sigs are high quality pistols, but they have two bad things going for them (if you want to call them bad...maybe just different).

One, the controls are ass-backwards from every other autopistol and might drive you nuts, if you shoot 1911s or Hi-Powers alot and want to switch between the three designs. The position of the slide release and decocker on Sigs drives me batty.

Two, you can buy a basic XD-9 and a realoading machine for what you'd pay for a new Sig 226.

Two things to consider.

i second that for the money these are a great buy. i went looking for a glock and came away with an xd9 after i had them both in my hands. i went with the xd because it's grip angle was more to what i was used to with my 1911. over 3000 rounds later i haven't had a ftf/fte or any other hiccup. very pleased with my choice..........................:)

Mr TuffPaus,What I mean by short is the XD trigger has a short stroke for the type of trigger it is. I'm not comparring it to a 1911 or BHP, but rather to a Kahr, glock, Kel-Tec etc.

I bought an XD40 a little more than a week ago. Will be shooting it for the first time tomorrow but so far I love this thing based on how it looks. Plus its my first handgun so...

The XD slide is wider than a Glock. The grip angle is better than a Glock, but the grip is longer. The XD is top heavy (to me) as opposed to a Glock. I've got 2 Glocks a 19 and a 23, and I prefer them to the XD's. I've got 2 SIGs, a 228 and a 220. I prefer them to SS (blackened or matte stainless finish) SIG pistols because the slides are lighter and feel more balanced to the gun. I owned a XD9 and found it reliable, and the grip safety was nice. But I traded it, as I prefer the Glock and 228 for carry.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I am with brickboy.

My XD9 SC was bought as a carry gun that just had to be an acceptable shooter.

It's way past acceptable, and on into one of my first choices to shoot. Stone cold reliable, accurate, excellent trigger, ergonomic, quick on follow up shots, and not a hint of that rust problem.

Is it as nice to shoot as a nice 1911? Not quite. But it's close to 95% as good. And it is not 95% of the cost.

Heck, I think I might get a full size as a house gun.

I am one very pleased XD owner.
