I searched all over the internet tryig to find if the XD-E is drop safe and if it has a firing pin block. In the end, I contacted Springfield customer service directly via email and got an answer back in just a few hours.

Here are their responses:

“Yes it is drop safe. There is a firing pin block in that model, but not a hammer block. ”

“Yes, when that test is ran the safeties are off.”

So, if anyone wonders. Yes, the XD-E is drop safe, with safeties off.

Glad to see such quick answers to customer questions as well.

Pretty much all modern design semi autos have a firing pin block. You can take the slide off yourself, and look at the bottom of it.

You will see the saftey plunger that moves up and down, to permit the firing pin to move forward.

There is no excuse for a modern pistol design to not have a firing pin

It amazes me that Ruger designed the Security 9 and LCPs without a firing pin block.

Thanks. I agree, but as MAKster noted, not all do in fact have it. Trust but verify. Or, don’t trust, and still verify.
