Good afternoon all,

Sorry about the invalid posts - my internet has been dying off at the precise moment the thread was to be posted :cuss:

I've been reading so many positive reviews about the new XD45 compact that I went to the gun store the other day and held one. It was a wonderful fit for my hand, and I"ve heard nothing but good things. (The owner/salesman, told me that since the XD45 compact came out they can't give Glocks away. Overstated, obviously, but indicative nonetheless of the XD's challenge.)

Earlier, I thought my mind was made up in the camp of the HK P2000 for my carry piece when I soon receive my CCW. That too was a great fit, and the fiancee liked it as well (she was firm, however, that for HER, she'd like a G19!). Ever since that experience with the XD, however, I've returned to my hated waffling, vacillating back and forth between the two for my carry piece.

Does anyone out there have both, or had the same impulse? I know that XDs are well-respected on this board, as are HKs. If anyone has any input or first-hand experience, please post it.

Thanks!

Why not the USPc45 VS the XD Compcat 45

Wouldn't that be a better apples to oranges comparison than the apples to kumquats comparison that you got going on. You see, an XD is basically a Glock with a grip safety (I'm sure that someone will be along soon to correct me on that), while the USP line does what no other gun does- its a polymer framed gun that is DA/SA with a decocker. I only changed the HK to compare 45's to 45's. The P2000 is a great gun, but not available in 45, so I swapped in the USPc.

All that said (is anyone still reading?) I much prefer the HK, I have put almost 9000 rounds through my USP45 and it loved it, never one single mechanical problem, and only one failure, and that was due to a ruptured case, not the guns fault. I don't have anything bad to say about the Xd other than I just didn't like them personally, I have fired a bunch of them because a lot of my friends have them and like them, and wouldn't It be great to be in love with an inexpensive pistol? But, they are like a dead fish in my hand... Cold and lifeless, the HK feels great, and points like a finger, buts that's me.

Go with the HK and you will have gun for life that you will have full confidence in no matter what life throws your way.
