I picked up a XDm9 compact today at a Whitetail Outfitters Va for $639.00 plus a free box of ammo and a pierce grip extension. Yes it is a little high but these are some real helpful guys so i figured it money well spent.

Fit and finish: Overall quality is good. The metal finish is excellent and the slide is tight enough. The only thing i didnt like is the lanyard slot is cut real sharp and it lets you know it when shooting the 147gr's. Its easy enough to fix but still a complaint. So in short, i think quality is on par with the other handguns in its class, it cost more now, but i think that is short term just because its new.

Ergonomics: It fits my hand perfect, it comes with 3 back-strap sizes but i found the middle one fits me the best. For me this was one of the biggest selling points. I like the exaggerated stippling, i think it will really shine when it gets wet and it definitely helps with managing the recoil.

Accuracy: I was shooting 124gr flat nose Leadless UMC and 147 grain Winchester JHP.

I shot 10 round groups at 15 yard off the bench.
UMC shot 2.1" center to center

Winchester 149gr JHP shot 1.9" if you dont count the flyer 3.3" if you do.

Sights: the sights that it comes with are great, for me it away shot high to the left with the 100 rounds i put through it, it tried to drift the rear at the range but it is in tight! i needed a vice to get any movement. But that is a good thing because it means they arnt going got move around if i drop it or something.

Shooting: AWESOME! being a 1911 guy the XDm points the same so putting the sights on target was natural. Recoil wasnt bad but the 147 in the short magazine definitely let you know you just pulled the trigger.

trigger: Good, better than the XD, Glock and M&P in my opinion. It has a solid short reset and has a 5.5 lbs break (so im told, felt about right though). It could be better with some work but for me and what ill use it for its is good enough.

So thats what i think, hope this is helpful to some in the market for a double stack striker-fired compact.

I just got one in 40 and qualified on it for my duty pistol. Fine gun.

Still carry the 9mm xdsc off duty sometimes, and all the time while ATVing. Use a XD45c with tac light as the home defense gun. I got the XD bug baaaad!

ha i know what you mean, ive been a 1911 guy and never found a poly frame that fit me. UNTIL i shot an xd, for me it hits a great balance between weight, firepower and a feel that i really liked. i wanna put a few hundred more round through it before i carry it, but man i cant wait!

I've got a 9mm 3.8 with the full size grip. It replaced the G19 I carried for 5-6 years.

I'm really happy with it. I did some trigger work and installed the Powder River kit, but it was pretty good out of the box. Accuracy is just fine and it's 100% with my handloads and the 9PBLE I carry in it.

The JPoint sight (see below) didn't work well on my CZ75 SA (I was always hunting for the dot) but it works great on the XDm. When the gun comes up, the dot is right there.

Best carry gun I've ever had.

Got the same in .40s&w, gun is just a hoot to shoot. Up to about 2500rnds now and has digested everything I've tried feeding it including my 180gr cast lead handloads. Zero malfunctions. Everyone I've let try it with ends up the same stupid looking grin after the first mag.

A lot of people shoot the XD/XDM high left. I think its because the trigger is really low compared to the back curve of the grip, makes your finger move in a direction that's not just straight back.

Just shot mine in 9mm yesterday, ripped a large hole in the bulls-eye. They don't shoot left, I have shot several XDM 3.8's in 9,40 along with the full size XDM before I decided to buy my own. None of them shot left, I think that is shooters error.

A lot of the shooting high is the sights are six o'clock position instead of poa/poi. I never could get use to it. The good thing about the xdm over the xd is that you don't have to dryfire it (which damages the roll pin in the slide) to field strip it.

Low left is how your holding your finger on the trigger. It's cause you to pull the gun when you squeeze the trigger. Make sure just the end of the pad of your finger is on the trigger and see how that works.
