You know, that's not really my cup of tea, but I can appreciate the novelty. Are these built from kits, or are you gutting airsoft guns for the bodies?

its cool. we're gun enthusiasts with different flavors. ;)

correct theyre just gutted airsoft chassis/bodies used as a dress up kit. its cheaper and i have more available options of centerfire clones rather than waiting for a real aftermarket gun manufacturer to produce one at $500-$600 a pop.

i still get the OEM reliability of Ruger and Marlin and the availability of OEM magazines.

ive been buying WWII parts kits of gun broker and im building a .22 dress up kit of the Bren, MG42, FND BAR, 1919A7.

theyre just fun plinker guns and nothing more.

How well does the average airsoft stock hold up? How do you normally mount the receiver inside the airsoft reciever? Very cool, and making me want to see what I can do with some airsoft castoffs...

it holds up pretty well. i prefer buying a metal version if its available. if it comes to plastic, i try to get good thick plastic based on the brand and price point. if it retails new for $40, then its going to be that cheap ABS brittle plastic.

just dremel away the metal or plastic until youre able to close the chassis/body entirely.

to bed the action, i use Devcon epoxy steel putty or JB epoxy steel putty. its just like playdoh that turns into a rock in 3 minutes. so i use this to create brackets, shims, exoskeleton around the action to prevent movement. i also use the epoxy putty to help bridge the upper/lower receiver and i can drill and run a screw through it.

i also use JB Kwik Weld epoxy glue

i also run a screw through the buffer in the action to prevent horiztonal movement.

i reuse the front action screw using the epoxy putty to prevent vertical movement.

its easy after you do 1-2 chassis'. then it becomes an addiction to see what else can work.
