Yea or Nea on FN Mk III?

I know they're the same pistol, BUT!

Go to Browning.com and you will see that the HP SA is still very much in production. FN is not putting the FN markings on HPs for the US market, only Browning markings, but they are the same pistol made by the same company.
Boy, did I open up a can of worms or what??

I know that there is no difference in the pistol other than the rollmarks..
HOWEVER,the guy is asking about the FN Mklll..
I told him he would have to get the browning in 9mm for SA..
The FN 9mm comes (according to the http://FNHUSA.com website) new nowadays in SFS.. I'm just telling him the difference between the ROLLMARKS..Just want him to be sure and get what he wants..

HAVE A NICE DAY!!;) ;)

The MK III has nothing to do with SFS. SFS guns are modified MK III's.

Another seemingly stupid question: Will aftermarket grips made for the Browning HP fit on the FN HP. I can hear laughter already, but I would rather rather ask a stupid question than piss away $80 on a pair of hogues that dont fit.

It's only a stupid question 'cause you forgot the question mark at the end. :neener:

The answer though is that it's the same gun, no matter what the roll marks say, so yes, the grips should fit. ( FN makes both guns. If it's a Browning High Power, it's also an FN. )

Any problems that come up with grips fitting will be because of slight changes found in "both" guns, back when they changed from forged to cast frames.

Yes the OP was asking about an FN MK III but one that he already found; he didn't need info about Browning vs. FN rollmarks.

But what is the consensus on it?

But what is the consensus on it?...But is the Mk lll a good improvement? Or are the originals the way to go?

Hmm, could I have misread the original post?

The consensus on this thread and on many others that I have read on other forums is that the MK III is a very good deal at around $400.

The MK III "improvements" include a cast rather than forged frame, firing pin safety, and a straight feed ramp. Some MK III 9mm models may still have a forged frame, but all 40 S&W models have the cast frame.

The cast frame is susposed to be better, but a traditionalist may want a forged one.

Some believe that the firing pin safety is not needed, but does not affect the function.

I am no HP expert, but I suspect that the feed ramp change was to better feed hollow points.

I see no practical reason to stick with the original design.

I have one of the single action MKIII's purchased from CDNN last year for $399.

Buy it and you'll never regret it.
