Sorry guys, I know...you most likely had 10 billion of these threads, and if I make anyone sick of hearing this, sorry!

I am planning on buying a AR-15 lower in September. Most likely to be matched with the Del-Ton 16" Mid-Length Rifle Kit. Of which I have a few questions.

On the kit, is it "mostly assembled", or it is a package of parts that will require a fair amount of assembly. (EDIT Never mind, I see that they are prebuilt - YES :) )

Secondly, what do you recommend for lowers, I am partial to the Cav arms to help support them with their issues. But I was wondering what are other good brands as well that go with the Del-Ton Kit.

Also, would it be better for the first time to just buy a pre-built lower and then a pre-built upper to avoid any problems? on a scale of 1-10 on the skill of building things, i would put me at a 4.

Edit: Also, what is the lead times from ordering to getting the lower from some of the manufactures?
Thanks, hope i didn't make anyone too sick if I repeated something that has been gone over 10 billion times. :scrutiny:

I opened this thread wanting to help another guy who i'm sure had a question. Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with parts kits or the manufacturer you speak of. When building my ARs, I just grab a lower first, and then buy comeplete uppers from stag. They make a great product.

Buy a stripped lower, go get yourself a a lower parts kit, and a collapsable 6-position stock. Assembley instructions can be found on ar15.com, go to the AR section, and click on the "Do It Yourself" thread. After installing the stock and parts kit, just purchase a complete upper, as a stripped upper requires many tools which even I dont have. If you need a "Stock Wrench" to put the stock on, you can find one here. https://www.rockymountaintactical.n...category_id=0ae88609b568a06d37361cad42b47246&

You dont save much $ building the lower yourself but it is kinda fun.
DPMS lower $110
DPMS lower parts kit $59
Tapco stock $59

Spend your money on the upper...

I assembled a Del-Ton kit using these instructions. The only part that gave me any trouble was the pivot pin assembly. I think the knowledge I gained assembling my own lower was well worth the time and effort.

A trick with the lower parts kit is to use a punch to position the trigger and hammer in the receiver while you push the pin through the other side.
