Yet Another zombie Movie...

Wow, that "All Hallows Eve" is addicting. I nailed 719 zombies, ended up with $2263, and 26420 points. Alas, the high-cap weapons took longer to reload, but I needed the ammo as the huge hordes came toward the house. At least it took them a while to eat my flesh. :)

Sindawe - good find

Managed to kill 1217 zombies - I beat that sucker!

Although I guess the author of that game has trouble determining the power difference between a 9mm handgun and a 9mm subgun (check out the power of the semi Uzi compared to the 9mm) :)

Undead was an interesting movie. Some of the personality stereotypes were completely done overboard (the male cop...constaple?) and I wanted them dead myself. The plot isn't quite zombie, it has some sci-fi laced into it. The only thing interesting (in my opinion, and main reason I saw it) was a firearm which can be described as three pump-action shotguns rigged together side-by-side-by-side. There is some 1911 action as well. I'd describe it as a comedy movie.

I can't believe THE Romero is releasing a zombie movie and it's due out this month. Who is in charge of his advertising campaign!?! This is the first time I've heard about it!

*edit I just read the plot summary. Evolving zombies hordes, vestiges of the human race in a walled up city with tensions between a Rich/poor social class. A tank only refered to as "Dead Reckoning". Awesome :D

Ok this is geting rather silly, are we as grown men realy talking about shooting hoards of the living dead ???? get real. you need a FN gimmpy, belt feed 7.62mm have the obligatory Dr and his good looking daughter carring up more belts and spare barrels. (sorry gentalmen but the m60 is to slow on the barrel change) Who cares if we dont get a good head shot we can just cut bits off them. Then walk round head shooting whats left with a 9mm, final a use for the 9mm.

Zombie neutralizer

My choice would be a good AR platform with a loaded Beta-C (100rnds) and two spares in carriers. Also a good hi-cap pistola with spares (I'd use my Glock 19). Then, there's something to be said for high explosives and incindiaries. It all boils down to: WWBGD? (What would Bert Gummer do? :p

A small zombie outbreak calls for small arms. A subgun of some sort would be ideal - plenty of ammo, good if you need to shoot at the scavengers, accurate enough for the living dead.

For a large outbreak, I'd like to shift to the 155mm/cluster munition solution.

I kinda like the 20mm cannon if we're talking big stuff. It's potent, but not so big that a small group can't cope with it and the ammo.

I guess I'm good to go against the zombie hordes:

Total Kills:1198
Money: $7034
Points:70,760

VERY addictive. Now I need a smoke...

BTW: on the later stages, grenades and landmines are your friends. I had EVERYTHING on the house, and they never got past the gates...

Oh... after that, I'd like to change my preferred platform slightly. The AR is fine, but I want a Shrike System upper, possibly with an M203 mtd...

To keep this thread marginally gun-related, check out the unrated trailer. That zombie's using an AUG! :)

I can't wait for "Land of the Dead." I've been a big "Dead" fan since I first saw "Night of the Living Dead" on Halloween.

I cleared it, after getting to level 6 about 3 times, and having someone open another page over the game.

Final stats

points: 71725
money: $8252
kills: 1225

The last 10 levels or so had the UZI as my main with the Frag Grenade as the alternate. The UZI actually reloads pretty fast compared to some and it holds tons of ammo.

Personally, all I'd need is my Mossberg 500 with 7+1 and my SW 5906. oh yeah, and a machete would be handy....

FN P-90 + tons of 50 rounders and Glock 17 + a bunch of 33 rounders for quick movement.

For sniping purposes....10/22 bull barrel supressed (don't need to bring in tons of those zombie suckers) plus you can do a few thousand rounds a day without hurting your shoulder. I think Andy in Dawn of the Dead should have done that every day for a few weeks straight instead of using a scoped 308. You wouldn't run out of ammo as 22 doesn't take up much space and you can really lower the numbers of zombies circleing your mall :p

If I was Andy, give me a week or two and I'd have the cleared the path so much I could have strolled from the gun shop to the mall blindfolded and not worry about getting my brains eatten.

Yup, played and beat the game autospike posted. Here is my strategy in the order I got them in.

1. Use the least amount of firepower per enemy.
2. Upgrade to the .22 ASAP.
2a. Use the ammo from the weaker gun first unless enemy requires a shot from the stronger gun. AKA, BB gun then 22, 9mm pistol then shotgun, 9mm carbine then shotgun. This does not apply when you have frag gernades, use those when you can take out multiple enemies.
3. Get boards over the windows after you get the 22.
4. Save up until you can get the 9mm or the 45. Don't get both, keep the 22 for the small guys. Fast reload time is you're friend.
5. Get the iorn gate as soon as money allows. This gives you a little standoff room. They need to get through this before they get closer to the house. If you are empty, this will buy you time to reload.
6. Get the shotgun next. Only use it when needed since it has a slow reload time and small mag.
7. Save up and get a few more defences. I got razor wire. Don't spend all you're money on defences without upgrading weapons.
8. Get the 9mm carbine, don't bother with the sniper rifle. It is overkill on the small enemies and the mag size and reload time will kill you. Keep the shotgun as secondary and use when needed.
9. Get frag gernades, don't bother with the Molotovs. Yes they are cool, but gernades are much better. Keep 9mm carbine as primary and use gernades when you can take out multiple zombies.
10. After you have the 9mm carbine and gernades, if you are still alive, load up on defences. They will take the brunt when you are reloading.

That is how I did it. :D

I'm more concerned about the $2000 for a Moloatov Cocktail.

(And the fact that that game runs so s l o w l y on the computer I'm using that it makes me feel like a zombie).

Edited to add:

Just completed the game:

Money: $20359

Yeah - With the HWU (Hordes of the Walking Undead), keep in mind that you're not necessarily looking for knockdown or intimidation factors.

What kills the buggers (again...) are well-placed headshots. A .308 bolt action may be okay for clearing a large area from an inaccessible position, but it ain't gonna be worth scrap metal value if they make it through the door.

You want a buddy. Redundancy is good.

A .22 rifle will let you carry a good-sized town's worth of ammo in a small backpack.

Semi-auto, and you don't have to worry about cycling the action.

Very low recoil will aid in rapid followup shots.

Won't go all the way through, and put nasty holes in the walls of your shopping mall. Also makes things much easier to clean up.

Pick a line around your perimeter, and start dropping 'em at it. Drop 'em all inside the line. Then, as they come the line, drop 'em. It'll get to where they won't be able to easily get past. It'll also get really disgusting.

Be careful about using things such as improvised incendriaries on 'em... All you need is a flaming zombie to shamble into your dwelling before expiring.

If you need to move, you need to move. Think BIG, think sealed, and go slow. You can drive 'em over. They're not going to be able to get into a decent sealed truck, and if they're squashed and immobile, you don't have to worry about 'em. Don't drive like a maniac, because you're not going to know what surprises are around the next corner.

When the HLB (Hordes of Living Bikers) show up, invite 'em in, and join 'em. They ain't stupid.

Best Zombie weapon....a Lightsaber????

Please I'd like to be at a bit of a longer range if I were fighting an undead horde.

The best weapon would be one of the proton packs from the Ghostbusters.

The things power cell has a nuclear half life of five thousand years.

and so in the imortal words of bill murray's character Pete Venkman.

"Let's show this prehistoric bitch how we do things down town"

I saw this movie over the weekend and I wouldn't get over-excited about it if I were you guys. The scenes with shooting interest were pretty minimal. There is one character that is something of a marksman but otherwise uninteresting.

Although the special effects were great, the plot has been completely Hollywoodized: rich people are Evil, military and para-military people are Evil (unless they are a visible minority), rich people are racist (all the servants are black) and finally, zombies have needs too and shouldn't be gleefully vaporized by the survivors.

Aside from the fact that this plot is totally unconnected to the ideas and themes of the other movies, this social justice overlay is both implausible and irritating.

Wait for the bargain racks at Wal-Mart.

Aside from the fact that this plot is totally unconnected to the ideas and themes of the other movies, this social justice overlay is both implausible and irritating.

I saw Romero's commentary in the other movies and he says that they reflect the social issues of the time, such as racism, consumerism, and the nuclear scare. He said that Land of the Dead is supposed to show some of the post 9-11 fear and paranoia.

FWIW, I was kind of annoyed too, but Romero has always been somewhat preachy in his movies.

Preaching?

I hate to have to say this but Horror and SciFi movies usually do a little
preaching and social commentary, from Invasion of the Body Snatchers
(which warned against both rabid Communism and rabid Anti-Communism),
to The Last Man on Earth (and the remake Omega Man), to Frogs
(where rich old coot Ray Milland gets bit back by Momma Nature for
his environmental sins.)

Romero is not the only filmmaker who uses his films as a soap box.
And scifi and horror are sometimes the only movies with religious
themes. Payback for wrongdoing was a theme of the old Theatre
du Grand Guingol and most horror movies have a subtext of divine
retribution for past sins.

My dislike with LotD: there is no sense of geography, no sense of
where you are in the city: Romero's previous Dead movies all had
a well-defined sense of the lay of the land and where the characters
were in that landscape. That made them feel real. LotD has no
sense of place, like Plan 9 From Outer Space, where one set of
characters walks from the cemetary to the UFO in a flash and the
other set of characters take an eternity to cover the same path.

My like with Land of the Dead: old meltface uses his one good eye,
an M1 Carbine and an SAA and refuses offers of "better" weapons.
Like Alvin York in the Cooper movie, he wets his front sight before
aiming.

I think the swipes in LotD are aimed at private security, not at our
police or military. Dennis Hopper's guard force are more like the
Baldwin-Felts detective agency hired by the coal mine operators
during the Coal Field Wars of the 1920s than like our cops or army.

I saw the movie on Sunday. I didn't think it was very good. It would be a better rental.

The one that came out last year, Dawn of the Dead, was much better, IMO.
