That's a quote from my 82 yr old mother and one that I'm sure my wife agrees with. The reason for this post is, I disagree, the only thing is, I'm not sure which one should be next. I started shooting in March of 2010 @ 52yrs of age. This is what I have so far (in order of purchase).

H&K P30 in 9mm, HD, IDPA, range
Kahr PM9, ccw, EDC
Noveke AR15, 16" low pro, "battle rifle"
Remington model 1894 (pre64) 30-30 deer rifle
S&W 1911sc Commander size (e series )
S&W 686 plus (Talo edition )
Benelli 12 ga. auto Super Black Eagle II (bird gun)
Ruger 10-22 "Take Down" small game gun

I reload for the hand guns and the AR.

I'm conidering a second duty size hand gun in 9mm because I shoot the living crap out of my P30 and I think it would be nice to rest it now and then. I've got $600 to spend (private stash) and I'm going back and fourth between two choises. The first is a CZ75 P01, I've held one and the feel is great. The only "down side" to the CZ is th finish (poly not stainless). The second is a M&P, I shot one when I was shopping for my first hand gun, it came in a close second to the H&K. One possible "up-side" to the M&P is that it's a striker fire and with a little work, I've read it can be even better than it is.
Lets hear what you folks think .

I have an M&P in .40 S&W and I really like it, it seems to have a very smooth action and this was right out of the box.

Congrats and welcome to the sport: range, reload, collecting, gun shows, competition, and you name it....a. Don't advertise your collection-never know who has your address, etc.. It's hard to not have fun and talk guns all the time, but today's electronic world-better to be safe.

I've been just introduced to the CZ 75 line and am impressed. The SP1 and their Shadow derivations are probably next to join our collection. I've had several M&Ps and could not get over things: needing the Apex parts for my trigger feel tastes, and still having that hinged trigger-never could shoot it for squat wearing duty gloves. Those are just personal nits-absolutely loved their 40c shootability.

Check out the 2012 SHOT show booth review on Youtube, nutnfancy channel-gets about 40 minutes with Angus going over the CZ line up of awesome pistols.
I dont need another gun, but I want one. Nobody else has to know about it. :D

All good comments,. I've seen the vid your talking about. The real special CZs tip the money scales over though !

As long as your family does not have to suffer without just so you can buy another firearm, I see no reason not to get what you want. If your wife has to drive to work 20 miles a day thru snow and ice on bald tires because you make that purchase is a different row to hoe. For many of us, firearm purchases are a major adjustment in our finances and must be made wisely and the needs and desires of our spouses should be considered. If you're over 18, your mom's opinion on your firearms is moot.:D

They tell me there is a difference between "wants" and "needs".
I don't get it, I need to satisfy all of my wants.

My grandfather always used to say that to me, funny though how every time I show him a new .22 revolver he scoops it up and keeps it for himself. Now I tell him the same thing :D

If your family uses that direction for everything else, it may be a good idea. However, that is a true rarity. There are too many variations in clothing, make-up, food stuff, and electronics for the average human to adhere to.

Exactly how many hues of fingernail polish does anyone need? NONE.

How many clothes does anyone really need?

Why buy a new car until the old one quits beyond repair? Same with appliances.

What they really are thinking is that one has "enough" of something that THEY don't feel they need. So, you don't, either.

My wifes car is newer than my truck, it has new snows for the winter. The Mom quote was just a way to get the conversation started about which firearm should be next. My wife has a cpl and one gun, can't talk her into more. Do they really make a "man card " ?, how much are those ?

Love my m&p .40. It it was your close second it sounds like it should be next on your list.

Sounds like you got your bases covered then. As for the man card, I know nuttin' about them. Never felt the need. Maybe they're just another internet myth like the Zombie Apocalypse and magic bullets.

My 89 year old grandmother tells me the same thing!

Of course I am a student and should be putting money towards paying off loans, but all work and no play just doesn't do it for me.

Thank heavens that my mom and dad support my gun buying to a degree, as long as I don't over do it, right now.

I say just go ahead and get what you want. No such thing as "you don't another gun!" There is always a tool that needs to go in the tool box.

It's hard to shoot out a gun! I have a Ruger Standard that after 30+ yrs just went back to be rebuilt, I got tired of individually replacing each spring and clip as they finally wore out. It is my most carried and most fired pistol. I have been sporting it around since I was 11. It has a very high round count! If I could afford to put that many centerfire rounds through a handgun I could see the need for a new one. As it stands the Standard and the FNP are the only semi-auto handguns in my safe. I hope they both outlast me so I can pass them on to my daughter.

I'm willing to bet that your wife and/or mother have collections of stupid garbage, that probably cost a small fortune and is worth nothing or comparatively less and serves no useful purpose....

Common things are dolls, ceramic figures, spoons, silverware, china, knick knacks, shoes, purses, outfits, etc. that all had high retail pricetags but could barely make a garagesale worthwhile...

If that's the case, rub their noses in it and that'll shut 'em up.

Guns are useful, moreso that most tools, and the skills are very important. Also, guns hold their value well if cared for.

It is a statement made by many who don't care for our hobby. I respond to my MIL, you don't need another painting.
