'98 BMW Z3 2.8, which explains my fixation on short carbines and rifles with folding or collapsable stocks. :uhoh:

Traffic in Northern Virginia sucks. Therefore, I refuse to dump large sums of money into my vehicles.

I commute to work in a 1996 Nissan Altima.

My wife drives our 1997 Toyota 4Runner, but I get to play with it on the weekends. :D

Prior to those two vehicles, we had a 1993 Toyota Paseo (196k miles and still running strong when I sold it) and a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am (had several problems that will be it's death, but I couldn't kill it with my 50 mile round trip commute up I66 and 495, so I sold it for more than it's book value :D ).

My vehicle choices are more strategic than tactical ;)

Here is my daily driver. A black 1971 Lincoln Continental Coupe. Power seats, power windows, power door locks, power antenna, remote trunk release, Disc brakes in front, white leather interior, lowered, with the rare factory "no vinyl top" option. Currently getting her 460 motor rebuilt with a mild hop-up. I have been told that there were a little over 8500 of the cars made in 1971, with the hardtop/no vinyl option on only around 2200 of the total above. I love this car and have seen only one other like it...

I used to use this home-built beast to go plinking. I used the chassis from a 74 Lincoln and cut-off all the body metal and glass. I then fabricated a new body out welded 4-inch steel tube and sat it onto the car with the help of a forklift. Bolted and welded the new body down, found a chain link gate to cover the motor, and painted the whole thing with brushed on black "Hammerite" paint. New dual exhaust and bigger, wider tires and rims and she was ready to run. I used to drive that thing everywhere but eventually sold it because I needed the room. I even took it to a car show once, you should have seen the looks on evertones faces. I parked the beast nest to a buddy who had a totally custom Ranchero that he had spent thousands on. To his chagrin, the folks at the car show ignored his ride and were clustered around mine. He told me that he would never park next to me again. When plinking, I would flip the chain link gate onto the roof and sit in the car while shooting, worked great when it was raining cause I never got wet. I really miss that rig...

Hey IRONFIST,

OMG! :what:

I just have to have me one!

What do you think it would cost to build somthing like that off of an old bug chassi for dinking around small logging roads and such?

Hey ID... Its not so much the money cost involved, its the time invested in it. I picked up the 74 Lincoln donor for 400 bucks. I got a discount on the steel because I ordered thru my work and they added it onto their regular steel order. If I remember correctly I spent about 500 bucks on all the steel needed. Some of the steel plate for the bed surface in back was found at a scrap yard. The headlights came from a junk yard for 20 bucks and the taillights were brand-new. They came from a log truck/tractor supply store and were less than fifty bucks. The hardest part of the whole project was taking the car apart. I started out trying to unbolt everything, but midway thru I said "screw it!" and started using a Sawz-all and blow torch. The car disassembly took about 4 days. The frame design took about a week and then another week or two of actual cutting and welding. Then I picked it up with a forklift and chain and settled it onto the car. I had to do some adjusting with the torch and a sledgehammer but it worked. Then I had to make mounting brackets for the headlights and weld on the housings for the taillights. I ran new wiring to the new lights and soldered all the connections. Then I spent 4 or 5 days painting the car. Bear in mind that before I even looked for the donor car, I checked with the Oregon DMV to make sure it was legal. The only issue was a lack of windshield so I made a copy of the relevant vehicle code that said it was legal and kept it with me in the car. Since I didn't have a windshield, I also removed the wipers. I never had a problem with the Police, I even got "thumbs-up's" from them when ridng on the road. I swear that riding in the beast felt more like a motorcycle than a car. If you are interested I can send you other photo's of the beast from different angles. I sure miss it... :( :( :(

'94 Chevy Blazer 4x4, 4 door but I still have to fold down the 2nd row of seats to fit a Starlight case in there (the case cant fit sideways with the wheels on, but it is too heavy with three longguns inside to carry without the wheels). :banghead:

Dodge Dakota, 155K miles.
Chevy Suburban, bulletproof.
84 RX-7
91 RX-7 Convertible
95 RX-7 waiting on a j-spec 2.0L 3-rotor engine that I ordered from Japan. I hope to turn over around 350-400 hp. Not bad for a 2800 pound car.

Winter & bad weather = Toyota Tundra; carry a Kimber 1911

Nice weather = Boxster S; carry a H & K USP 45C

Real nice weather = Honda shadow 1200CC; carry a MK9

The gun should match the vehicle

Up until last week a 94 Suburban (and an 81 before that). However I was tipped off about a 04 GMC 2500HD that some bonehead had bought, drove for 7000 miles, & then decided that it wasn't what he needed :scrutiny: . One would think that you would decide that before buying a brand new truck. Oh well, I was very happy to let him take the hit on the depreciation & I've got an essentially new truck sitting in the driveway at the moment  .

A lot of people buy 3/4 trucks thinking that they are cool, and then realize that they don't ride all that great without 1000 lbs in back.

I am very interested in building somthing like that. The only thing differnt that you did, I need it to be very quiet, small, go forever on very little gas and be easy to work on. I have been considering picking up and old bug and chop it up for some time. I am very interested in how you did many things.

89 Dodge 250 diesel 4X4. 240 gallon fuel tank in the bed along with a air compressor and various tool boxes. Isn't very fast but rides real well. Doesn't have any trouble finding soft spots either.

Rough Stuff- 95 Fullsize Bronco with a 351

Road Warrior- 02 FU Yellow Mustang Convertible

Long Distance- 01 Kawasaki Voyager

Bar Hopper- 04 Harley Dyna

03 Jeep Liberty 4X4 for commuting in winter and some light off roading.

I can stash 2 gun cases under the back seat which keeps them out of view if I'm travelling around to gunshops and the range.

Pickup ..... but very much an ''ole phart'' machine ..... Chevy Silverado with cap. Not a gun ID clue on it .... and plenty of space under back seat for quite a lot of ''gear''!! Of course ... room for a lot more in rear!

I doubt this ''marks'' me at all as either a CCW or even shooter - I probably appear just your average casually dressed old fool ..... tho that could make me a ''mark'' perhaps... However . surprises would be in store!

A clean truck outside of my office shed .. right now it is so filthed from winter it looks awful!
