Anyone Ever Think "What A Waste"?

^^^ Yup... me too!! Whether that be land, ammo, firearms, gold, silver, copper, strippers... (no, not the type you perverts are thinking!!)... etc.

This is a fascinating thread. I suppose I fall into this camp: There are hobbies less expensive than shooting, and hobbies waayyyy more expensive. If this is what you like, and what you can afford, and what you can appreciate...it may be worth it to you. But only YOU can make that decision.

I have quite a few moderately priced pocket knives that I carry infrequently. Whenever I feel there is some "waste" in my low-rent collection, I pull them out, and remember the reasons or the story behind each of them. I think the value of that exercise is far more than the cost I put into them. I think the appreciation I have for each of those blades is worth it...

It's your money enjoy it as you please.

Mr. Blue, as you were on the street for some time and it sounds as if you were able to make a buck or two. You of all people should know that money is to be used not frittered away. Once a person reaches a point in their life that their money is working for them and not the other way around is when the fun starts. I reached that point about 10 years ago, and it sounds as if you are also there, so enjoy life and the fruits of your labor. If shooting or whatever is no longer fun step away from it for a while, try something different.
As for donating time or money, which I believe is the right thing to do, there are many worthwhile charities that always need help, I would never presume to suggest to you are anyone what charity to donate to, but Remote Area Medical does wonderful things for our American citizens that need some basic medical help. Nothing fancy but good solid dental and vision care.
As for having to replace the rear tires on your M-3, a lighter touch on the far right pedal will make all the difference in the world.

I like guns and I like money but I don't have any money so I don't have many guns but I like the guns I have and don't fret about what I don't have, either guns or money. So my life is simple and I like that also.

On second thought, in order to unwind and relax, only one gun might be needed to help forget about the rat race and growing complexities of modern life/US & world economy etc.

Sitting in the outdoors among trees and green grass with it really helps. You have total control over your activities, limited, if not by cost, then only by safety and using common sense.

If somebody can easily afford a specific chunk of cash on a hobby and it helps him/her be in a totally different frame of mind and reduces stress, then why not?
I have a friend not too far from here, who has thirty very nice milsurp rifles (he bought a dozen last winter) and easily pays the bills etc.
Two or three (mint) will probably still be coated with cosmoline in their paper bags when he is years older, or in the next world.

A couple folks here suggested you step away from your gun hobby for awhile. I think that's excellent advice. You don't want to make a rash decision which you'll later regret. Take up another hobby for awhile. What have you always wanted to do but never took the time or had the funds for?
