You got a Glock?

It´s the partner for a beater truck gun IMHO.

I have one in my VW-Bus and it is a good tool
for many tasks ... you can´t shave with it, but
you cannot break it either.

The sheath with it´s click-mechanism is great design.

It´s not beautyful or excellent, but it is the most tool for
the money you can buy.

I have two, and i spend like 6$ a year to have it sharpened
by the slaughterhouse-guy around the corner.
HE does get a good edge on it. I wouldnt even try it myself anymore
with a stone.

Summary:
If you want a complement for a Garand and a 1911 ... get a KA-Bar.

If you want a complement for your beater truck/camping guns like MN, SKS
etc ... then go M78.

For me it´s the Mosin Nagant of Knives.

Thanks for all the input. At first I was convinced by you all to not get it, but reeally in the end I want a knife I don't need to worry about. If it's scratched it is scratched. I need to learn how to sharpen a bit better, and this may be the ticket.

You're missing the point that they're nearly impossible to sharpen. What you're likely to end up with is a pointy pry bar at a higher price than a pry bar.

Spend the money on a Spec Plus from Ontario and you'll never know how much trouble you saved yourself.

I don't know that I'd say it quite that way. The first time you sharpen one it's going to take some extra work to get the edge geometry right. After that it shouldn't take any unusual amount of work unless the edge gets really messed up.

I don't own a glock bayonet but I have handled them, wasn't super impressed with it. For the money i'd rather have a m7 bayonet, they seem to be hard to break and mine is real damn sharp.

HSO, can you tell me a bit more on the Ontario knives? I looked at them and like the sp1 marine. Any input would be appreciated.

A local military supply shop around here has an "Austrian fighting knife" for $138.99
they claim it's from 1968 (maybe earlier recalling from memory) and that it was standard issue for Austrian army

Its a freaking Glock knife thats a bit beat up and I bet 99.9% of my yearly income that it's NOT that old nor military issue.

Whoever sold it to them really SOLD it to em with that story.

Ha ha - very funny until some hapless sucker buys it from them.

"slow rusting carbon steel"

WTH? Now there's a marketing phrase for ya....

I have one I like it overall bang for buck it is not too bad. True it doesn't hold an edge that well, but it is also easy to sharpen.
About half way down this page Mr. Noss runs the Glock field knife to destruction

http://www.knifetests.com/KnifeTestsPage2.html

This site also gives you an idea of other knives that can take a beating and are possibly in your price range as well.
