You have to relive history, which event?

You have a choice between Little Big (Custer) or Rork's Drift (Chard)

You have a choice of which event in history you MUST relive(NOT REPEAT). You have to use the same era weapons but you do know how the ending came out the first time and it CAN be changed by your actions.

There were more survivors at the Little Big Horn. Maj. Reno's battalion and Capt. Benteen's battalion both managed to survive (though with heavy casualties). Rorke's drift had plenty of survivors too and I'm partial to it. Why? They had the advantage of a fixed position and some fortification.

August 1945

Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Peking, Shanghai, Moscow, Berlin, etc etc.

Just keep a goin before any of them got the bomb.

Then take em over and have 367 states. NONE with Dianne Feinstein!

:D ;)

1846-48, America's war with Mexico. Instead of stopping at the Rio Grande, America should have annexed all of Mexico. Mexico would eventually become one of the 51 states. If so, then we wouldn't have today's immigration mess.

Reliving history

Battle of FredericksburgÑI'm a Yankee.

1. Shoot Gen. Hooker dead.

2. Take a squad of modern Navy SEALS across the river and up that hill under cover of darkness. (yes, I understand the rules. They'd have bowie knives and blackpowder and fuse. Don't need modern weapons, need ATTITUDE.)

(Somebody already took Ford's Theater. Under Lincoln, Reconstruction might actually have worked. Malice toward none, charity to all, etc... I believe he meant it. But Reconstruction can hardly be considered as one event.)

Hmm, tough choices.

September 1st, 1939 - pre-position a buttload of Allied troops just inside Poland's border with Germany.

December 7th, 1941 - A certain radar operator with a Westinghouse SCR-270 radar set would know the images on his scope were an honest-to-Gawd Japanese attack formation, and that information started a General Quarters in Pearl Harbor...

March 11th, 1942 - General Douglas MacArthur is captured by the Japanese and forced to endure the same Bataan Death March with those in his command that he would have otherwise abandoned.

December 16th, 1944 - Wouldn't be a Battle of the Bulge if there were enough Allied troops and logistics to ward off the German push through the Ardennes, right?

How about the attempted assassination of Lenin? Use enough gun, a 7.92 Mauser, not a 6.35mm mouser.

Better yet, hot loaded .45LC (the rules just said weapons had to be same era, not same region ;) ).

If you're talking someplace and time in history where use of a weapon available at the time could have changed history:

Whatever German prison Hitler was in, mid-1920s, with a shank.

If you're talking place/time to infulence some general/world leader on a decision that history later showed to be not the best:

Falaise pocket, late summer/early fall 1944: move the Army boundaries a bit, let Patton and Third Army complete the encirclement, destroy the German Army in the west. Commence the hauling butt to Berlin, spare at least eastern Germany (and probably more-the division of Europe would have been a lot different if we knew we would actually be physically occupying a lot more of it) from living behind the Iron Curtain.

I am with Topgun and Seeker Two!!!

Russia would make a nice add-on to Alaska when it became a state in '59.....after the states of Italy, France, Germany, and Japan.
Then, no one would have a problem, buying American products!!
Methinks, the American Flag would be flying over most of the world by now, which ain't a bad idea, since we support and police alot of it. With finanical aid. You can keep your culture and religion, UNLESS it becomes a problem...then we become the cure!
That would be a most interesting SciFi Novel.....if we sent Patton into the Soviet Union and used Alaskan airbases and the new ones in Japan to start taking Stalin to the Cleaners. The height of our industrial, military and technological might. It would not have been pretty, two industrial nations with millions of soldiers, planes and tanks dukin' it out....but we had better production, and machines(other than that Sherman tank) two fronts to fight from, a massive naval force, a workable jet fighter, long range bomber's out the wazoo and, of course, the A-Bomb! Far better small arms too!
Oh, Custer should have had Henry's or Winchester's AND Gatling's.

A front row seat at Lincolns Gettysburg address. I would love to have been there to see Mr Lincoln speak.

I would have liked to been seated in first class on a certain airliner on September 11, 2001, with a Colt's 1911 in a shoulder holster.

Hmm.

Same era weapons?

I'll take Rorke's Drift.

"Hullo, Leftenant, my name is LawDog, I'm a sales representative for Gatling Machine...damn, that's a lot of Zulus. Leftenant...Bromhead, is it?... have I got a deal for you."

What I'd really like is a Sykes-Fairbain knife and a two hour head start in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.

Lee Harvey Oswald found dead from a "mugging gone wrong" after JFK is winging his way back to Washington would take a lot of the steam out of the GCA of 1968.
