Your Experience with Ruger Double Action Revolvers

I am a huge Ruger DA revolver fan.

I've only got one 4" GP100 and love the thing. I bought it used so the trigger was already smoothed out for me

Currently saving up my pennies to get a .44mag Redhawk....trying to decide between 5.5" or 4".

I have a GP100 and a single six.The Quality is much better than my taurus mod 85 and my RG 38.
MyGP100 is about 24 years old and my single six is about 28 years old

Great experience. Very durable. Have SP101, GP100, Redhawk and in the past a Security Six. Probably will acquire another one or two in the future. Also have S&Ws and in the past Colts.

Out of all my DA ruger wheelguns(several redhawks, Super redhawks, speed sixes, sp101s, and gp100s) only one ever gave me any trouble, and ruger fixed it with a turn around time under 2 weeks, IIRC.

I only have one Ruger DA, a 4" stainless Security Six. Bought it 30 years ago and won't even consider selling it (well, I suppose you could give me a LOT of money and I would.....then I'd buy another).

It is dead nuts accurate with light .38 wadcutters. Likewise, it does great with full house .357 loads too.

I got my ccw last fall and of my 4 handguns that I own 3 are Rugers, with one Smith and Wesson. I got my gp100 stainless 6" for $300 and my vaquero 44 mag 5.5" (single action i know) for $350. Rugers are absolutely the best value in revolvers hands down.

I'll just echo what the majority of other posters have said. I own a GP-100 6inch bbl, and an SP-101 with 2.25" bbl. In the past have had a Super Redhawk in 44 mag and a 4" GP-100. I can't say enough good about them. Never had problem one.

Ruger Revolvers (in my experience)= over built, indestructible, accurate, reasonably priced and comfortable to shoot

.44 mag stainless super black hawk
.357 GP100
and as of this week, two old armies, one stainless one blued

Right now, I have two Ruger revovers, a 4" stainless GP100 and a 2 1/4" SP101. Both are fantastic weapons, accurate, rugged as all get out, durable and reliable. For me, the ergonomics are great and they fit me well. My only complaints are some sharp edges (no big deal and easy to fix, I just haven't done it yet) and the trigger on the GP was initially a little rough. A good cleaning and a little light stoning to remove some burrs and now it's got a better trigger than the King Cobra that it replaced. On the short list to buy next are a 3" GP and a 5 1/2" Redhawk.

Ruger double actions are superb!

I bought my first speed-six in 1981,
added another in 1982.

The first SP101 in 1996,
added another in 2006.

The first GP-100 in 2002,
added another in 2005.

Some were a bit rough out of the box but smoothed up well.

My experience with Ruger double actions has been great -

that's why I keep buying them!

I own a 1989 6” blued GP100 and a brand new 3” SP101, in the past I have owned a 2.25” SP101 and a 4” Security Six... all have been excellent trouble free shooters.

IMHO, there are no better DA revolvers at any price.

I have never experienced a problem with any of the Ruger DA Revolvers I own or have owned over the years!

I have NEVER had a Ruger wheelgun fail, despite shooting a steady diet of my hottest handloads. There are no other wheelies out there that provide the level of durability that Rugers provide!
