Your experiences with fixed sighted revolvers ?

i haven't done it myself, but i have heard of guys filing off front sights, adding material to top of sights, replacing front sight with taller one. some even index the barrel to move the sight a bit to the right or left. that looks like it would be distracting having the front sight at a bit of an angle.

I've owned both "old" (like my 6" 1905 Hand Ejector .38 M&P:cool: ) and current (like my 2" 625-10 .45ACP:cool: ), production S&W revolvers with fixed sights and find them to fairly accurate within reasonable distances. So finding a revolver with fixed sights would not keep me from buying the gun.

I have a S&W 65 with F/S and 4" barrel.
I was extremely pleased when I took it out to the range and found it shot to POA with full bore .357 rounds and 38+P too. :D
Frankly, I wasn't expecting much as the rear sight is merely a groove milled in to the top strap, but, it was/is very accurate. The Pacmayr grip soaks up the recoil pretty doggone good too.

The best part? I got it for $199.00 and it was in near mint condition with a tight cylinder gap, no fouling on the front of the cylinder you get from the hot gases and very light scratches from carry. This is my first ever S&W(I was a Ruger revolver guy) and S&W makes a damn fine product judging from my experience with this revolver.

BTW, sorry to bring up this ancient thread! *DOH!*
I was doing a search and came across it and thought I'd add my fixed sight experience.
