Dedicated .38spl medium frame revolver.
I prefer 3" RB K frames such as Model 10 or 64.
Nothing wrong with the "snubby" of these either.
Around the house:
One is going to answer the door, be out in the yard, sitting in a chair ,or if asleep, and BG is over you...
Revolver like I suggest means - too small for a BG to grab, six for sure, not going to go out of battery if a tussle at bad breath distance, can be used weak handed, upside down, makes no difference "port side up or down" - because there is no port, limpwristing not a concern...
...and one does scare the weebie jeebies out of the Postperson, UPS, the neighbors kid...answering the door with a Uber-tack-tickle long gun. One cannot very well shove these Ubers into britches , say "hold this while I sign" or set it down for a 2 yr old to come over and mess with...
Revolver fits in a holster, apron, PJ pocket, bathrobe....
Just my thoughts...Medium frame dedicated .38spls are like Oil lamps and Candles throughout a home/ business -
Very little upkeep, everyone knows how to use one, and though one may not use one often - they always work when called upon.
