Ever get to thinking or talking about gun stuff and find yourself dreaming about something that is wildly unrealistic? Here are a few recent ones from me.

Costco selling case lots of Russian manufactured but brass cased and Boxer primed ammo. Mmmmm, cheap pallets of reloadable 7.62x54R....

Smith and Wesson offering all their guns sans ILS.

S&W making a scandium K frame .45 acp/LC with 1 5/8 and 3 in barrel options.

Marlin SBLing the 1894 line up, in .45LC as well as .44 and .357. Ok, that one isn't all that impossible.

You remember that scene in the Matrix where the main stars run the armory program? They are suddenly standing in a wal-mart size gun room? Racks as far as the eye can see overflowing w/ every make and model of pistol and rifle known to man? Something like that where my bedroom used to be...

I'm living it.

Really, there are some days where I hate the military, and lots of days where I couldn't see myself doing anything else at this point in my life but I am, as they say, living the dream.

I was salivating the other day about a S&W 640, case-hardened with mammoth ivory stocks, XS Big Dot front sight, 2.25" barrel, rechambered to be a 6-shot .327 magnum...

One day I went to the range. Hung up my computer-generated target - bull's eye type, with 2" red circle in the center. Picked up my gun, aimed... and hit dead center of the red circle (s&w m19, 4" bbl, using 38spl). The range officer happened to be behind me at that moment and saw it. With a really astonished voice he asked, "did you really hit dead center with the first shot?!?!..." shook his head, sighed, and walked away lol.

In my daydream I hit dead center again, only I do it ON PURPOSE that time.

Finding an original Henry rifle in an abandoned cabin. Happened to a friend of mine.
I had a friend who found one hidden in a wall of a house being torn down. Turned out it was a murder weapon from many years passed; he finally ended up with it, but what a story!

My gun daydreams run along the lines of chancing upon a pistol match, entering it with my carry gun and sweeping all events. I'm not sure where all the ammo comes from but boy, are they impresed!

I never seem to stop working on my rifles (floating, bedding, trigger job, refinishing the stock, etc.). I catch myself day dreaming that whatever new mod I've just made will allow me to take it to the range and punch ragged holes all day long until I get bored. :D

Then there's the ever-present, 'finding an uber-rare antique firearm at a garage/estate sale for whatever I have in my pocket at the time.'

walking into a scheels, bass pro, or cabelas and having some rich tycoon type toss me his american express card saying "whatever you want, its on me. enjoy!"

oh what a day that would be!

At this point, mine is pretty simple:

I walk into Bi-Mart (our local sporting goods/everything store) and walk up to the gun counter. The ammo shelves are full of strange calibers, such as .380 ACP and some European thing called 9mm. And they're selling for $11.99/50! Not to mention bricks upon bricks of something called .22LR, and boxes of Remington 55-grain .223 for $5.99/20. Man, those were the days. Not even 2 years ago now...

Seriously though, I went to Dick's last night and had the audacity to ask if they had any .380. The guy laughed and said, "Let me guess, you have an LCP." He said he hadn't seen any .380 for over a month, and before that it was months, plural. He had no idea when they'd get more in. This is getting stupid...

Walking through the mountains of Colorado hunting elk, with a Ed Brown Savannah .300 Win Mag topped with a Swarovski. It'll never happen, but oh well.

I don't know about favorite but my most recent recurring day dream is about learning how to hunt and getting close enough to a deer to drop it with a single well placed round from my Beretta 92FS. I am currently saving my pennies for a hunting rifle hoping to have enough before next hunting season, and a friend of my mothers has said he will teach me how to hunt. Before anyone flames me though, no I am not planning on going hunting with just a 9mm handgun even if I can't afford a rifle before next season. ;) The OP did say "wildly unrealistic though"

On my belly in low grass 100-200 yards out is a beautiful bull elk showing me his full portside. Gun goes bang, he kicks twice and drops, and the rain holds out till he's quartered and in the truck. That is my biggest gun fantasy. I guess to really make it a true fantasy would be to drop the elk with a sporterized Arisaka I sold in my ignorant youth.

a couple of S&W model 13 with a 3" intermediate weight barrel and a set of 586's with every barrel length made.
A set of Winchester Model 70 Compact classics in 243, 7mm-08, 358 win.

winning the lottery and then walking from one end of the gun show to the other with someone pulling cart for me and me buying...
one of those,
two of those,
one of those...

M2 Carbine
Thompson
M16
Beretta 93R
Glock 18

and a case of ammunition for each gun.
