What are your favorite gun stores in Alabama. Here in Huntsville it is Larry Pistol and Pawn - No doubt about it!!

I have bought (and sold) a few guns from Marks Outdoors in B'ham, but I am 2+ hours from them so I don't do a lot of business with them. I really like their list of used guns I can view online to decide if the drive is worth it, but the majority of my business is done with a couple small local folks.

Larry's Pistol & Pawn ... he he ... there are more guns on the inside than one would imagine from the size on the outside ...

Bought a WASR-10 there this past June.
I'm not sure I'd say it was a "favorite." As far as guns are concerned ... where ever I am at the time, if it has guns, THAT'S my favorite!!!:p

Hate to give up a honeyhole, but Story's in Opelika. More inside that what you would think from the outside.

Definitely Larry's for guns. I also check Wiley's and JC's for primers and other stuff that Larry's doesn't have.

Would any of you be able to recommend any dealer who might have some Mosins in the Birmingham area? Mark's does not seem to have any on their online listing, although I DO like them a lot.

Try to get Larrys to order you something some time. Of course this atttitude could of changed since they now have to compete with Gander Mountain and now Madison guns on the parkway. Myself I like Bradfords in Athens. They arent much when it comes to inventory but they will order you something in a heartbeat.

B&B Guns and Banjo's-Section, Alabama.

Clyde Barksdale. Good local guy to do business with.

I like Larry's. I've never had to order anything from him.

He always had what I was looking for in stock.

Thanks for the mention of Larry's. For that matter, thanks for telling me about Gander Mountain. I did not know there was one of those in Alabama. I may be making a "field trip" up to the Huntsville area!!

I was raised in Alabama. There used to be an awesome place in Oxford called Sportsman's paradise. They were MSRP on clothing etc. I did catch some specials and got some great deals at Christmas. Don't think they are open any longer.
Going down 431 in Sax is a shotgun sports. They have a TON of stuff at good prices for the area. Stay far away from Shooters HQ of something like that on 202 in Anniston. They are horrible.
You should make the trip to Anniston/Oxford to CMP south.
You should also work the pawn shops in Oxford and Gadsden. Lot's of stuff from guys down on their luck.
Roll Tide.

Didn't Mr. Barksdale close up? That's what I was told anyhow. I bought my first Glock there, the transaction was as fun as owning the gun. A great guy with great personality.

Storey's is an alright place. Not much there ever really jumped out at me, but they did have great people behind the counter. Larry's is bar none my favorite. Their selection is massive and the people are great when there aren't 50 people asking them questions. I have had them order 2 guns, and have bought around a dozen firearms and thousands of rounds from them. Their prices are right and they are very knowledgeable. Word has it that they are going to start carrying reloading supplies and more CZs...

One more thing about Larry's...you can haggle with them. They already have the best prices around, but you can usually get them to come down a little. If they won't come down on the price, they will give you a box or two of ammo, a free range pass, case, or some other accessory.

For C&R or milsurps in the Birmingham area, Birmingham Pistol Parlor in Tarrant ( just north of town ) has a very good selection. Racks full of Finn Mosins, Garands and K31s. Found a beautiful numbers matching walnut K31 and talked them down to 200 out the door about a year ago. Ask to talk to Dale about the older stuff.

Also in the Birmingham area, Bessemer, is the aforementioned Simmons. Big plus one for them.

ATI in Birmingham had fixed sight Glocks for 489 plus tax about 6 months ago. Also easy to work with, they have an indoor range.

In Mobile my favorite is the Mobile Shooting center, they have the best selection, but on the whole, Mobile is lacking compared to Birmingham.

There was a Larry's( not sure if it is the same store as the ones mentioned up north) down in Mobile up until recently, had a some ATF trouble.

Steve's in Mobile handles the class three stuff and has an indoor shooting range.

Just checked out the tactical firearms in Hoover, that is a nice store with a great selection. Didn't take a good look at the prices though so I can't say.

Jeff's Shooter's Supply from B'Ham does all the gun shows (even down here in Dothan) and usually has some Mosins. Might look him up.

Wow! Thanks, guys. I will definitely check out Birmingham Pistol Parlor and Jeff's. They are close enough to each other, I think, that I could swing by them on the same trip.

Gun Cellar in Hoover on 150 has a good mix.
South Eastern Guns in Trussville on Hwy 11 if they don't have they will order it
SFA (Southern Firearms Appraisal) on oak grove road in Homewood is nice to drop in on sometimes. They sometimes have some neat stuff from estates.
Simmons in Bessemer.

Someone bought him out, but he still works for the new owner.

For reloading supplies, Wiley's is the best thing going in Huntsville. They usually have a good selection and supply of powders, bullets, and reloading equipment. As with pretty much anywhere else, primers don't stay on their shelves too terribly long.

For guns, I like Larry's.

I am going to have to disagree with some of the above... I would discourage shotgun sports in saks as they have pretty outragious prices on most things and though they do have some deals some of the time, it is typically sacrificing on YOUR part...

case in point...selling new Glocks at 20 dollars under normal price and selling the extra mag for 30 bucks.... ie... taking the 2nd mag from the box that came from the factory.

I highly recommend shooters headquarters.. they are the only place I go as they have the best prices and actually stand behind the items they sell.

I would also recommend T&L outdoors in Oxford. their prices are higher (on par with shotgun sports) but they have a huge selection of everything you need for hunting, fishing, and overall outdoor recreation.
