I know there is currently a "Top Shot" thread going. This thread is sort of related to that show, but not about that show.

Some of the competitions on that show require the use of a handgun. They provide the handgun and it is the same one for everyone. I guess they are trying to level the playing field and use a variety of weapons.

But lets say you were involved in some sort of handgun competition. You would have to engage different targets at different ranges. Unlike the TV show, you can pick any one of your own handguns. But whatever handgun you chose, you have to use it for all the competitions.

Which of your handugns would you pick?

I think we need a few more parameters, especially how timing is worked into the competition, what maximum range and type of targets (i.e., are we talking silhouettes?)

No parameters. You will use this one handgun for al contests. Yes, some handguns would be better for certain targets and events, but in scenario you can pick just one of your handguns.

I would have a dilemna. My 22 High Standard Revolver is the gun I shoot best. Out to about forty or fifty yards I can probably hit most reasonably sized targets. The drawback would be if I had to hit targets like cue balls and destroy them.

For competition?

Tuned double-stack 1911. Something similar to Corriea's STI. (but less cool)

Easy to shoot, offers some adjustablity for different events, and I have tens of thousands of rounds through a 1911.

CZ-75

Easy to shoot accurate and reliable and fast follow-ups if there's any timed shooting.

Yeah a .22 is easier to shoot but if the range gets out to more than 50' feet or so lots of luck hitting anything.

Glock 21 .45 acp with night sights. Why? Cuz I feel like it works and I can shoot well with one, tho I don't own one. If I had to own it already then it would have to me my sigma 9 mm, I only have 3 pistols and the other 2 are a .22 and a Hipoint. , while the .22 is a fun gun to shoot I don't see it being a gun to use in competition

I'd use the same gun I carry every day.
XDm 9mm 3.8 with a JPoint sight and I'd add 5 extra 19 round mags.

S&W 686 .357 Magnum. I know where to aim to get hits with it from 10 yards to 100 yards, and it's got the best trigger pull of any of my centerfire handguns.

Glock 19 - It's the one I practice with the most. Purely stock, no add-ons.

If someone keeps track of the guns listed, this would make a great poll thread...
