DHart it sounds like you did your homework. The XD had more of an upright 1911 style grip angle and the glock has the more extreme euro grip angle. The XD does feel pretty tall if you switch between it and a Glock. I agree about the trigger. The XD feels MUCH nicer due to the action difference. I also like the loaded chamber and striker indicators.
Both guns carry nice in an inside pocket of a leather jacket. I am always wearing one of them when I'm on my bike. Make sure the grip angle doesn't affect your draw due to the size or shape of your pockets (considering how similar the two guns are in size this does make a big difference).
I haven't been to A Place to Shoot in several years but it's only about 5 miles from my work. I also have wanted to try out a Kahr PM-9 so if you wanted to try out a G26 and XD9 without the rental fees and wouldn't mind me trying out your Kahr I could meet you there sometime.
