YouTube and poor gunhandling

I kept waiting for him to shoot himself (or one of his buddies). What a tool.

Youtube has no shortage of idiots, mostly in my general (18-25) age range, doing all manner of idiotic things with guns, like idiots... because they're idiots.

Personally, I'm more worried about getting shot by one of these knobs than getting shot by someone who means to do it.

That video goes against everything they taught me in my CHL class:what: , but hes definatley not the first idiot Ive seen. The DEA video yall are talkin about. Is it the one with officer demonstrating safe gun use and shoots himself? The funny thing about that video is they used it for the safety class and he sued them. It was his own stupidity though....

That vid with the guy shooting 2 .45's at the same time cracks me up. I really hope that if I ever get caught in a gunfight, it's with a guy that shoots like the one in that video! He was in the middle of the forest, and with the way he was shooting I doubt he even was able to hit a tree!

Seriously what was wrong with the geoff shooting video? Instead of just posting, maybe should point it out if it isn't obvious.

He didn't point the gun at anybody, and the gun was in slide lock, and his finger was outside the trigger guard all the time after shooting. *** was wrong?

*** was wrong?

I think some people like to accuse others of doing bad things just because they them selves are not having fun.;)

"Why is Geoff having fun and I'm not! I'll....I'll....I'll show people his video and tell them Geoffs irresponsible!"

:neener:

I disagree with the post that claims Geoff has unsafe shooting disciplines. Yes he wasn't at a range. Yes it was just a free form shoot. But all of us (at least me) like to have fun in the desert (or whatever enviornment you're used to) from time to time. He was having fun and being safe. Let's all do the same yeah?

OTOH the genius with the AR-15 pointed what was apparently a loaded rifle at the camera man AND directed a laser into his face. Note the fellow behind the camera didn't seem to mind in the slightest.

Which makes at least two idiots in that scene. Good lord. :scrutiny:

In the AR-15 laser video, how come when he shoots it sounds like he's reloading after every round, or like a bolt action rifle.

You DO have to occasionally wonder what it would be like to dual-wield, and whether it could ever be done accurately.

It really ticks me off that the 1986 law screwed over the NFA industry. Imagine if they hadn't passed that travesty, and the Sidewinder SMGs had seen production. That would be a perfect weapon for dual wielding, just for the heck of it.

In "Fast and Fancy", McGivern devotes a number of pages to two gun shooting. Says it's tough, but can be mastered.

In "Sixguns", Keith has some pics of himself hipshooting two DA revolvers at a stump maybe 20 yards away. He's making mincemeat of it.

Saw a Bob Munden segment a while back wherein he addresses two targets simultaneously on either side of his body. Hit them both, though his segments always make me wonder how many tries he took.

My impression is that two gun shooting can be mastered with months of dedicated work. Somehow I think the subject of this particular YouTube video has not put in that work.

From around 18-19 seconds on, he's walking around swinging the gun all over the place. Covering his own feet and legs, etc. That's not my idea of a "safe direction."

I learned how to shoot at a range with very strict safety rules. The muzzle is always pointed downrange. Even after all these years, I still follow the basic rules. Maybe I'm just more anal about that than others.

I would say so, taking into consideration his slide was locked back in a non-firing position. Was the magazine removed? I didn't bother to check. I watched it once and that was it.

It's pretty clear to me that he wasn't controlling his muzzle. For me, that's unsafe. Personally, I don't start ignoring where my gun is pointed just because the slide is locked back (especially when there's a magazine still in place).

I have to say, I have shot with a gun in each hand on more than one occasion as a fun "trick", and I can't think of a thing unsafe about it if your a safe shooter to begin with. It's really pretty dumb (although strangely fun), but I don't think it's any less safe than shooting sideways is, although both are equally dumb.
