You've Only Got ONE Shot...Make it Count!

Assuming non-military weapon can be used, 12 gauge, such as Remington 870, , 18 inch, 3inch shell, 5 rounds, two slugs, three 00, in the tube.

I like this scenario, it's really made me think. As TAB pointed out, there have been plenty of servicemen hit with bigger calibers and kept going.

Similarly, I've heard tales of hunters shooting game less then 225lbs with big time rifle calibers and they've kept on going, sometimes for as long as half an hour.

Now 25 yards can be quite a short distance, especially if our machete weilding maniac ever played college ball. In the heat of the moment and with a moving target, center mass is the best most people can realistically hope for.

If running away isn't an option and you have to use a handgun, then I would choose a Glock 10mm with a bayonet attachment. (And I thought it was just a tacticool gimmick - everything has a use apparently)

I'm thinking a T/C in 45-70, or some other hand-cannon. Of course, I might have a svere flinch if I fired it much. Or maybe some sort of 12 or 10 bore shotgun without a stock, using either lots of buckshot or a high velocity slug.
What, you wante regular handgun calibers?

Why would anyone change from your current SD/HD pistol? If you don't believe that it'll stop a BG, why not upgrade until you no-longer feel that way?

In any real self defense situation, I would always fight like I only had only one bullet because you never know if you'll get a chance to fire any more.

I'd also use the same gun and bullets that I would use in the real-world -my M1911 with .45ACP 230gr JHP. Doesn't really matter what brand of ammo as long as it is from a reputable manufacturer.

Shoot COM if he gets within 15 yards. If he isn't approaching, I ain't shooting.

2 bullets? Repeat above.

Why carry anything else?

Well, I wouldn't want to risk the court system or use my guns for anything other than punching neat little holes in a paper target, nor should I engage in a gun-fight with a machete weilding maniac. It would be deemed unfair that he has a blade and I have a gun. I'd use my cell phone to dial 911 and try to placate him until the police arrive.

hahaha

Sorry I couldn't help myself...

Seriously, If you're not going to use your daily carry firearm what's the point in carrying it? I could say 75mm recoilless rifle, or M203 for that matter, and I must say that a phased plasma rifle in 40 milliwatt range has been on my wish list ever since Arnold asked for it...

I currently carry a Colt Commander .45ACP with 230 grain FMJ

The first thing I notice is that he doesn't appear to be wearing body armor so a center of mass is the best bet for a quick shot to stop him/slow him down and start him leaking blood. Collapse a lung or hit the heart, possibly spine...

If he's still coming screw running, it makes me sick to say this but I'd throw it at him at the last second to distract him while I go for a disarming move...
It might not work and I'd hate to have to throw my Colt at him but he started it...

Two shots,

Center of mass double tapped aimed just a bit low to catch the intestines or stomach and let the recoil bring the second one up towards the center of mass and then repeat that sickening thing I mentioned above...

500 S&W Magnum loaded as hot as possible with as heavy a bullet as possible, obviously a custom load. I don't care if the gun blows up AFTER the two shots, but I want them to cause immediate mortal wounds.

P.S. - This is fun...

Damian

25 yards isn't really a face-off...it's 75 feet...that's some distance. I'd try to run.

If I could PICK a gun and a target, then obviously something like .454, .50AE, .500 S&W, or .44Mag. If I could pick a shot, then definitely center-mass heart. I don't care what kind of organism you are, a direct hit to the heart will drop you within a second or two, you may not be dead, but loss of consciousness due to blood loss will be instant.

But considering reality, it would be my 1911 with .45 FMJ, fired at his chest, hitting him in some vital organ. Then I would hope to God I can avoid getting hacked up while I run around and wait for him to bleed out.

Gorey scenarios, but what the hell, it's what the internet's for.

Since no one else has taken it. Extreme Shock Ammo .22 in the big toe. Hey its instant death right.:D

Other wise T/C Encore 45/70 15" barrel adams apple. Two shots would be pevis and knee cap.

Well, the comments regarding the hip were very helpful. Thanks.

It's remarkable how many people chose .44 mags, .454s or 500 mags, as these pretty much just ventilate the people with a lot of wasted energy outside the body; however, the exit holes should be pretty overwhelming.

My own choice would be the .357 mag aimed for center mass or head. If this guy is lumbering at me, well, may as well take the head shot if I can. If there's any chance of missing, or if the guy is fast and maneuvering, the hip sounds like a good place to aim.

I should have said handgun, but didn't.

I created this scenario just to see what kind of faith people had in their weapons and ammo.

Dont make me break out the Brenneke Bear Magnums. Those things will take the big bad beefcake's spine and carry it through the exterior wall.

If that bad guy gets up and continues to advance, I deserve to die for not killing the superman outright. Should have had kryptonite.

Jason Vorheese?
yea um Russian RPG to the face i dont care about the rules its Jason Freekin Vorheese
a normal human i just use the Ruger redhawk with .45 colt right in the center mass and hope for the best

Here, have a demotivator I made recently.

I'll take a Serbu Super Shorty with Remington 3" magnum Buckhammers.

If he were much heavier than 220 pounds, though, I'd take the Brenneke Black Magic Magnums.

SBR Shotgun center mass -

H & K .45 to the neck -

Picture of Hillary in a swim suit to the eye's! (Run and try not to drown in his vomit) :what: :barf:

As I normally carry a Glock 29 (10 mm Auto) loaded with 175 grain Winchester Silvertips, that's what I'd use. I suppose if there was a guy(?) coming at me with a machete I'd just aim center mass, get out of there and wait for the sequel. If you really want to stop something like that aim at the movie producer.

9mm , first shot - in the pelvis so he can no longer support his body and drop like a rock. second shot - i walk up to him and put a close range shot in his temple.

I will assume I'm supposed to choose a handgun, since we're in that forum. For two shots I'll take my XD45C with 230 grain Federal HST +Ps and I will attempt to place them both somewhere in his chest. This is the gun and ammo that I'm carrying right now and I train for COM hits, go with what you know! If it's one shot, and we're in fantasy land where I can magically put the one round of my choice in the chamber, I'll only change the ammo: It'll be a full-house 185 grain .45 Super hollow point to the center of his chest. 1400fps and 800 ft.-lbs. of energy will slow him WAY down at the very least. I put 250 rounds a week through my XD. I'm not going to trade it for ANY other handgun in a fight for my life. Under severe stress I want the gun I practice with. :D

I would use my M&P .40. Put the read dot on the mellon and go for that. If movement is extreme, go center of mass and pull my .44 Mag for the final two finishing shots.
