I seen a revolver chambered in .600 nitro express once. supposedly it shattered the owners wrist after one shot. as for the second scenario, id go with its smaller brother in .500 nitro express, with all 3 shots going to the pelvis.

id also consider getting a m79. 1 pound of buckshot in a 40mm shell should be sufficient at 25 yards, or closer
 
either high center chest or the pelvis would be the placement of the shot. the gun would be my xd service model in .40 and the ammo would be my own recipe of 155gr speer gold dots.

It's not an entirely idle question. I did have my reasons, as it tells me what a lot of people think about stopping power as it relates to bullet size, speed and placement.

I'm one of those people who believe in the law of diminishing marginal return. Many people, I note, breeze past that point and keep going. Energy dumps are good up to a point, but once a bullet exits a body, all the excess energy really counts for nothing. There are many varying ideas here.
 
I get a choice? 12 gauge 00 aimed at the groin fired at approx. 7 yards so I don't miss.
 
I generally carry a .22 auto or a .22 magnum revolver. So that is what I would shoot him with. :uhoh:<>uhoh! If I was near my car and had my .38 in the car, he'd get shot with a .38. Those are the guns that I have and carry...so that is the selection to shoot this guy with.

...then I'd start the car and run him over...several times...and then I hit the accelerator and drive at least two states away...notifying the National Guard in each state as I passed through.
 
I thought the Serbu Super Shorty was in 20 ga only. ???

I also thought no one would top my .50 BMG handgun linked to above, but game, set and match to the grenade launcher! :eek:
 
Semi-auto crotch 10mm, Revolver 460S&W crotch it will shatter bone can't chase if he can't walk or speak or breath kicking enough for me to know that hurts.

I suppose theBR in 45/70 w/ my 440 hard cast,(on 2nd thought the pure lead might be interesting, lol) at 1550fps ought to do the trick. center mass bordering on high thoracic.:neener:

more realistically though I'm plenty comfortable w/ 357 w/ 125gr gold dots sitting on top a healthy dose of 2400.
 
I'd choose a 12 gauge with # 1 buck.

I'd put my 1 shot into COM as the attacker got to within 10 yards.
 
I never assume I'll have more than one shot. 230 gr .45 ACP HSTs. If I were a revolver guy I would certainly use 125 gr .357 mag Hydra-shoks.

There is such a thing as a handgun shooting .50 BMG, I don't have a picture of it now. You can always consider a sawed-off 12 ga with slugs or buckshot.
 
We all know you can't count on any one-shot stops in handguns, but that's all you're getting. Oh, and you can't shoot him in the head. So with your one shot, where are you going to put your shot?

i was a little harsh on my previous post..sorry..ill play :)

i'd say the knee would seem the most appropriate. it may not kill the knuckle head, but hopefully it would stall him long enough for me to hit the ground running
