Was visiting a new gun shop today and saw some interesting ammo on the shelf. It was advertised as "Yugoslav .30-06" The label was in Cyrillic, naturally, but I could distinguish "7.62" and "M2" Price was $6.99 for a box of 20.

Anyone know anything about this ammo?

I know there is a ton of 8mm that came in from them.

Not sure why they would have loaded '06 unless it was commercial and then I would expect the label to be in english.

Are you sure the dealer doesn't have 8mm that he's gotten confused with '06?

Well, the M2 should indicate the standard 150 gr. ~2740fps WWII military surplus 30-06, a favorite of Garands everywhere. :) However, I'm not familiar with the Yugo either. See if you can open one of the boxes and check to make sure what it is. If it's as advertised, I'd grab a few boxes and see how it shoots. If it's accurate, that's not a bad price to find locally.

I didn't think to do a search on Yugo M2 before posting, but I'll try to see if I can find anything more definitive.

****edit****
I googled "yugo 30-06" and found this thread http://www.odcmp.org/new_forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17495 Apparently SOG had/has some and the consensus seems to be that it's either corrosive or it's not. I didnt' check any more of the search results.
