I recently acquired a good condition, all matching parts M48A Mauser rifle. The problem I have is that the bolt head doesn't always (even when the bolt is cycled slowly) grab the rim of a round in the magazine, it just pushesthe round forward, only to get the round caught in the chamber, with the bolt unable to close fully. Anybody know how to remedy this? I have a K98 that works fine, so I know the 98 mauser action should be a controlled-round feed. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

Check to make sure there is enough clearance between the extractor, and the boltface. If there is not enough, the round will skip over it, and cause the problem you are describing. I would also check to make sure that there is not alot of crud under the extractor.

Take your extractor off and polish underneath the claw with a fine sharpening stone. Any burs or roughness in that area will cause the problem that you are having.
