Sorry, yet another question from a new SKS owner that the "search" function doesn't help with.

So I have checked out the excellent disassembly instrauction over at "Surplus Rifle.com". But, they seem to be for the "generic" SKS, without the Yugo's grenade launcher and corrensponding gas cut off selector that changes from semi auto to bolt action in order to fire a grenade.

The SKS board (survivor?) wasn't much help either.

So is there something special I need to know to disassemble the gas system? Obviously the pin needs to be moved to the "top rear' position of the 3 possibilities but how is that done, and do I need to watch out for flying spring (it must be tiny!) or anything like that?

Thanks!

Yep, watch out for da spring....

First, remove the gas cylinder.

Rotate the button into the 12-o-clock position. Depress the button again and slide it toward the butt-end of the rifle. This is the part where it could spring out.... Carefully pull the button up and out, keeping an eye on the spring. Finally, you can remove the gas valve by sliding it out of the gas block....

Hope that makes sense....
