I recently got a zastavia m57 tokarov its like or is unissued, still covered in cosmoline I paid 225 for it ,ive got to clean it now,I just need to know is the disassembly very hard and reassemly and just a little feed back on the pistol and the 7.62 x25 round :D

mineral spirits

Put everything in a bucket and let it soak over night in mineral spirits.

Take your time and get all of it removed. If not, it can cause you grief.

Cosmoline is the devil's grease.

btw: inexpensive surplus ammo is scarce right now, so be patient and vigilant for it to show up again.
Plenty of Wolf HP out there, though.

Do like doc540 said but you do not have to go beyond pulling the slide and removing the trigget group. No need to remove the barrel. It's easy. Good luck on the ammo, though.

There are good disassembly videos on you tube, disassembly is close to a 1911 and a browning hp, the only tricky thing to do is to remove the grips, there is an x shaped latch on the inside of the grips that must be rotated a certain direction then the grips falls off, take off the right grip first , then you will see another latch used for the left grip.

To remove the slide you first remove the bicycle chain type link on the right side, this will allow you to remove the slide stop and remove the slide.

Slide bushing comes off by depressing spring pressure from front of slide, then bushing can be twisted off, to clean the gun just soak the whole gun minus the grips in solvent ( take into account all flamable product safety practices and do it outside) for about 5 hours and then clean with tooth brush , cleaning rod and cue tips. Then dry , oil and resassemble it . Note if you soak in solvent no need to remove firng pin for cleaning, gas disolves grease.

If you shoot corrosive ammo, clean barrel , slide with ammonia to remove corrosive ammo effects and then clean / lube as any normal gun.

The Yugo M57's disasemble slightly differently than other Tokarevs. The real difference is that you don't need to mess with the barrel bushing to take out the spring guide rod. Just remove the take-down pin and slide the slide forward and off. You can then remove the spring guide much like you would on a modern polymer mistol (ie Glock/XD). This is due to the fact that the Yugo Tokarevs have a hinged spring guide rod. Once you've taken the spring guide rod out, rotate the bushing 180 degrees and the barrel comes right out.

Thanks for the info, I clean the pistol this afternoon,I work at a shop so I have access to a parts cleaner using mineral spirits, the take down and reassemly was easier than I thought, but when I got it back together everything works fine but the trigger is hard as a rock ,is this just par for the course for the tok or is there something I can do to tweak it a little or even a aftermarket trigger like I said I got all of the cosmoline off and put it back together and oiled it up with some CLP, thanks for any information

The triggers on both my M57s are actually rather nice and break at what I'd estimate at 8 or so pounds. So no, I don't think an overly stiff trigger is normal of the breed. Something may be binding.

The trigger return spring is a leaf type in the frame. If some of that cosmoline gets under it can cause binding. Try pulling the trigger from the frame, then cleaning the inside of the backstrap, and under that spring.

Snowdog is right; since I repaired my yugo I gotta admit the trigger is as good as norinco, polish, and romy. Maybe better. A soft 3/4 pull and bang. The extra weight cuts the already tiny recoil. Might be time to get another.
