Hello

I'm looking for any help related to a mini Mauser magazine follower spring. My rifle, chambered in 762x39, is feeding rounds too high so they jam between the bolt and in the barrel above the feed ramp. I am also experiencing the last round nose diving into the magazine, below the feed ramp. Ya too extremes. I have gently stretched the spring to correct to last round nose diving ( for now). I have also cleaned up the magazine follower. There were a lot of rough spots. The spring itself is very weak. I would like a stronger spring. I would not care if I lost a round of capacity. I just want my rifle to work. Any advise on how to fix this would be great. I don't think century will be much help and parts built specifically for this gun are few and far between. Or parts for any of the variants; rem 799, interarms, ect. Are there any followers and/or magazine springs from a more mass produced rifle that could be modified to fit? I read a Remington 700 223 spring may work but would need to be modified to fit. Any one have experience with this.

I have a 223 gun I had to do a fair amount of work on to get running right. Had to polish the follower, bevel the edges and strech the spring. Somewhere at home I think I have a note I found in the web about a modified replacement follower. I will try and remember to look for it tonight.

My CZ 527 carbine chambered in x39 had the same problem. I'm not sure how much your and mine have in common though. I filed some burrs off the magazine follower and stretched the spring a little too. That seemed to fix things.

I tried both removing burs and stretching the spring. It helped for a bit but didn't fix the issue. I'm going to try a different spring from a different rifle. I'm also going to keep a look out for a follower and spring made for my rifle so I have spare parts in case I ruin mine trying to fix it. I did discover that if I only load 3 rounds, it works ok. If I load 4 rounds, no matter what type of ammo, the first round jams almost every time. If I manage to load 5 rounds, which the gun is designed to do but is a real pain, it will jam the first round and make the last round nose dive below the feed ramp, forcing me to stretch the spring again. I work for a firearms dealer and some of the guys have 40+ years of experience with guns so I've tried all the normal fixes. Hoping someone here has had direct experience with fixing a similar problem. Thank you again for any input.

The Zastava and CZ are 2 different rifles. I had a Rem 799 that the extractor broke at that time no replacement parts, got lucky the shop took it back. I've since acquired 2 CZ in 7.62x39 and the problems I had were the firing pin springs needed to be replaced and a reload problem that was solved. The mag springs seem weak but the work without problem but I thought about cutting down a popsicle stick as a spacer in the bottom of the mags to give the springs a bit more "oomph".

You might try calling Numrich--they have a feeding kit available for people who converted their small ring mausers into sporters using Numrich's 7.62x39 barrel. The feeding kit has a replacement follower, shim, and mag spring that they sell with the barrel. I believe that the Zastava uses the intermediate action but the dimensions might be close enough for this to work. I would call them and simply ask whether they would sell the feed kit separately from the barrel--item is here https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/48800.htm

I found the information about fabricating a replacement mag spring I had mentioned earlier. This is not my info or anything I have tried, I just came across it one day on a forum and filed it away for future reference.

'mini mauser replacement mag spring can be made with a remington 700 mag spring that is dremeled down to fit the slots in the follower :
appy. Try this: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/35...700-adl-bdl-short-action-17-222-223-remington

You have to dremel on the ends a little. This spring is slightly wider than the Zastava's. So you have to make the ends a skosh narrower to get it to fit in the slot in the follower and in the floorplate. But it's a thinner steel stock with tighter bends in it, which should get you a little more room in the mag. Per the reviews, some guys can't even get the full 5+1 into the stock 7.62 rifle, and I bet this will help. At any rate, take a mental note. A lot of reviews are reporting premature mag spring failure in this gun, and TBH, I broke mine almost immediately by lightly trying to stretch it.

This spring is also (a lot) stronger. It eliminated the feeding issues I had with my M85 in 223 (second to last round popping out, causing a double feed), and it also allows me to get an extra round in that caliber. I can load 6+1 or even 7+0."
