Zastava O-PAP Bolt

Is the third generation Zastava PAP (called the O PAP) improved with a double stack bolt? Or does it have the single stack bolt.

I did a bunch of research on the O-Paps before buying one. Yes they do have the double stack bolt.

How do you like the new pap rifles would you say they are as good as saiga (finish, function accuracy)

I just picked one up and haven't had a chance to get it to the range yet. Fit and finish was top notch for this type of rifle (it ain't no Mannlicher Schoenauer.) The furniture on mine was unfinished and none-matching, which can be easily fixed with a few minutes of light sanding and a couple of coats of tung oil. It has a double stack bolt and, apart from the furniture, is made from brand new, matching parts.

Basically, this is as close to one of the sought after 80s-vintage Mitchell-imported Yugos as you're going to get this side of the one grand mark.

They are different than Saigas. It's hard to say which is better. Both have pros and cons.

Saiga pros:
-Hammer-forged chrome-lined barrels.
-Lighter weight.
-Much wider availability of accessory parts.
-Quality Russian construction on the same production line that makes modern Russian AK-74M and AK-100-series military rifles.
-Accurate. The Saiga definitely bucks the AK stereotype of being inaccurate.
Saiga cons:
-You have to convert them back to AK configuration (a pro if you are like me, though, and want to customize to your desires, and enjoy the conversion process).
-Ugly (but very durable) finish.
-Prices have risen drastically in the last two years (from $300 to north of $500 for an unconverted IZ-132).

O-PAP pros:
-Nice finish for an AK.
-Rigid RPK-style receiver.
-Heavy barrel & receiver soak up recoil.
-Already in proper AK pistol-grip configuration with threaded muzzle attachment.
-Great value at the $600 price point they've been seen at.
O-PAP cons:
-Heavier than converted Saiga.
-No chrome lining to barrel (yes, I know that's how the Yugos have always done it that way, but that doesn't mean I have to like it).
-Not all of them come with the cool double-headed eagle emblem on the stock.
-Much more limited in furniture and aftermarket parts options.
-Potential of having to deal with Century's shoddy CS.

If properly put together, both the Saiga and O-PAP (please note I am referring only to the O-PAP and not the troublesome PAP or N-PAP) will be accurate and reliable. Personally, I prefer Saigas, due to their Russian pedigree, high-quality hammer-forged and chrome-lined barrels, and lighter weight, but the O-PAP is no slouch, and it is certainly a good-looking and well-made rifle.
