Democratic Gun Owners' Caucus groups

I'm putting this up since I haven't seen any other DGOC members make notice of this.

Since at least 47% of Democrats are willing to admit gun ownership (

) several of us have gotten together with our states' congresses and have started various Caucuses in several states. I'm the interim Chairman of Missouri's Caucus, other states' Caucuses can be found at www.bluesteeldemocrats.org

We agree with most other gun owners that the DNC Firearms platform - while in the correct place of said platform under Civil Rights - is very wrongly written and needs to be changed in 2016 to reflect actual reality. 'Assault Weapons' is a term created to instill FUD and the 'gunshow loophole' is just another way to say 'private sale of firearms'. We are putting forward a revised Platform statement on Firearms and are currently working to get it put forward for the 2016 National Convention.

RKBA doesn't belong to any one group that would limit any other groups from enjoying this natural right. We are in this fight to remove this as a wedge issue between groups of Americans. Please check out the Blue Steel website to see if there is an organized Caucus in your state and if there is not and you tend to vote Democrat, please look into getting directly involved.

Good for you! Take the party back from the urban fear-mongers from within.

The time is ripe for an internal effort to marginalize the people who hate the 2A and don't trust gunowners.

Way to go ErikO, it is nice to see more Democratic gun owners. The right to keep and bear arms pertains to all Americans, not just one group or another. We all as gun owners need to be united in our belief that firearms are part of our lives. I have met anti's in both major parties, and will gladly stand beside my political opposite to ensure that we both have the RKBA. My hat is off to you for your work.

If 47% of Democrats 'admit' to owning guns (was that after intensive interrogation?) then how did an assault weapons ban make it back to their agenda?

Actually, I have been considering registering as a Democrat. Utah is a closed primary state, and I would actually have more influence voting to manipulate their primaries than I would as a registered republican.

Seriously, thanks ErikO! It's nice to have a reminder that not EVERYBODY of a political party necessarily goes along with the political platform with blinders on.

I also am a registered Democrat, but I think changing the party's anti-gun position is a lost cause. My party has been taken over by the far left, and has openly declared for total government control of everything and suppression of any and all opposition. The fake "civil rights" apply only to those groups who can and will provide absolute, unquestioning obedience to Obama and his socialist allies and worshipers.

I still remain a Democrat, in hopes that maybe in a primary election (in this state, the general election is a joke) I can have some influence.

There are pro-life caucuses as well. Parties have platforms, but you can't expect pure adherence to them across the board.

Yes the party is run by antis, but they aren't fools. They know the 47% number as well as anyone and they remember what happened to their majority in Congress and the various state houses after the AWB passed in the 90's. They like their political power more than they hate guns.
