Took my new Beretta NEOS .22 to the range today. Overall I was impressed with its accuracy and reliability. There were no malfunctions, even with very cheap ammo, and it's more accurate than I could ever hope to be (that's not saying much). It did take some time to get used to the goofy look of the gun. Other than that I have no complaints. Plus, I shot 500 rounds and was only out around $5!
On another note, I continue to marvel at the accuracy of my Kimber Series I Pro Carry HD. For only the second time in my life I put seven rounds in the center of a silhouette target at 50 feet. The gun makes me a better shooter than I deserve. :D

Quality guns will tend to do that! ;) Congrats on the results on both guns!
 
How easy is the take down?

Very easy. Just in front of the mag release there's a wheel/knob with a button, which looks like a second mag release, next to it that locks it in place. Push the button, turn the knob and the entire upper, including bbl and "slide" is removed. It's that simple. I went into the store to pick either a Browning or Ruger but the NEOS was the best value and nicest for the money. Plus, there are a million accessories available.
 
I bought one late last year and have run over 2,000 rounds through mine, including Stingers, Velocitors, Fed Classic, and Rem T'bolts. I like it a lot, though I have no basis of comparison because this is my first rimfire. A couple of early bobbles that may have been caused by my not pulling the slide all the way back but other than that it's been an extremely reliable feeder. Yes, it's very easy to strip, which is one reason I was interested in getting one (after some of the stories I'd read here about the Rugers).

You either like the look of the thing or you don't. I did. It's my first Beretta; so far I'm impressed.
 
Like ive mentioned before,my Neos is the only .22lr ive ever shot that was flawless from round one.Ive never considered it to be top heavy but then again im a Hi-Point fan!

Which version did u get? 4.5" or 6" Blued or INOX

You gonna scope it?

I purchased mine(6" Blued) in June '02 and have put a couple of thousand rounds thru it without a hiccup.
 
It's the 4.5 inch blued version. Someday I'll scope it but for now I want to use the iron sights. If future range trips goes as well as the first did this gun will quickly find a permanent place in my shooting rotation. Total cost with tax was $233.18 and it's more fun to shoot than guns three times more expensive.
 
Thought not as good as my Kimber Pro Carry HD the trigger pull is acceptable. I'd equate it to the single action pull of the 92FS without all the slack.
 
I too own a Neos. I havn't had as good a luck with mine. Although it is a nice gun. I really can't complain though the only real problem is one bad magazine.

Mag Release (it's right about the trigger gaurd right were I keep my finger when I am not about to fire)
Ambidextours saftey ( my trigger finger hits the left handed guys saftey and sometimes disingages it before I am ready to fire)

You're right about the black on black sights. But then I have a Kimber with, for me, the same problem. A dab of red paint was my solution.

I have not had any trigger problems with mine.

You do have to make sure the magazine is fully seated and that the slide's pulled all the way back, I find.
 
My solution to the sight problem was a red dot scope witch seamead to naturally work with the gun. Although I am on my 3rd red dot now :mad: guess thats what I get for going cheap LOL.

As for the trigger it just took some breaking in or getting used to seemed alfull stiff to me. It took more pressure to break then my Glock with the 5.5 and seamed a little rougher to me. Now it seems great don't know If I just got used to it or it has worn in.

What kind of red-dots have you tried and what do you like? I bought a BSA (cheap) but haven't used it much.

One other nice thing about the Neos is it's very easy to mount scopes.
 
First was a Simmons that I removed from my shotgun. That crapped out at the range and would no longer turn off or adjust brightness

Second was some no name POS that I got at the Buffalo NY gun show. It lasted about 2 hours. After that the [sarcasm] tremedous recoil[/sarcasm] of the 22lr would turn the scope off.

Third is the BSA I got that at the syracuse gun show. It is now having the same probs as the second POS red dot on the 11 setting.

I might for now put my 350 dollar EOTech on it. But that seems like overkill.
 
Easy takedown? If you have to use the gun in self defense (i.e. pistol is marketed towards beginning shooters, not inconceivable), can't bad guys do a Beretta field strip takeaway on you? :D :D :D

Hey, that's where the "Molon Labe!" factor kicks in. You know that.

Peetmoss, so far my BSA works okay. I seem to have trouble keeping it zeroed, though. I may just shoot "naked;" the red-dot makes the gun a bit unwieldy for casual shooting.
 
The Funny thing longeyes is a buddy of mine has the same excat BSA Reddot on a Thompson Conterder in 44 mag and his is doing fine :mad:
