Carrying Speed Strips

Right side back pocket (speed-loaders in right side front pocket or dedicated pouch to right of belt buckle); I hold revolvers in my left hand, upside down, three fingers holding top-strap, cylinder out to the right, when reloading.

Got a picture of that technique? I’m not able to follow through your description.

Just to add my own technique. It is the way Ed Lovett teaches it. I shoot and am right handed.

Open the cylinder with my right thumb. Wrap my left middle and ring finger through the cylinder window from the bottom of the revolver to be able to manipulate the cylinder with those two fingers and my thumb of the same hand. Invert revolver to smack the ejector rod and then load with my right.

I carry speed strips in my right back pocket or in a coat pocket if I’m wearing one.

if hiking with a rimfire revolver i use a semiauto pistol-, nylon, owb holster and put speedstrips in the sewn-on, front attached mag holder. a naa mini revolver and speedstrip both fits inside a soft-sided smart phone case. otherwise centerfire speedstrips go in watch or coin pants pocket, small nylon pouch or even a baggie inside front pocket.

I carry my wallet in my front pocket so I usually just use my back pocket where my wallet would be for speed strips and just try to remember not to sit on them. If I’m in the woods and want to be more comfortable I’ll use a fanny pack. They may not be stylish but they can be quite useful.

I figured out long ago when I carried a service revolver or a snubby... that speed strips... weren't very "speedy" at all... Once speed loaders came out they were part of my duty gear - but off duty, not so much at all... Then we all converted to semi-autos and that was that until many years later in retirement and no longer carrying a sidearm at all (not once in the last 24 years..) I found the need to make certain that my old service revolver had extra ammo, ready at hand.... if needed.

Here's what I came up with... I use a cheap nylon small fanny pack to carry three speed loaders with the belt connected so that it works as a sling that I can throw over my head and shoulder when that revolver is needed. Works quite well, leaving both hands free but with instant access to the same old speedloaders I carried on the street all those years ago....

Still hope it's never needed... and if the fact that I never carry a sidearm is a mistake - I'll be the first one to find out...

I carry mine in old phone cases picked up at the flea market CHEAP ($.50), I have one for 38/357 and a larger one for 44mag if you put them in with the strips to the outside they fit nicely and don't look like anything to do with guns

I like carrying in my watch pocket, if the pocket is big enough. Some aren't.

I carry mine in my watch pocket too. Problem is they sometimes have to endure the washing machine cycle because of my negligence of forgetting they were in watch pocket. I have an old belt cartridge holster that I used to hold my .308 cartridges that I think will serve the purpose...with some slight modifications.

Oh yeah.
Odd crap happens to me too. I have carried a revolver all day only to find my lcp magazine in my pocket at the end of the day.?

I like the Tuff Products pouches. They're low profile, and very secure. No trying to jam a hand into my pocket, because it's right there on my belt, outside of my pants.

I very rarely carry a speed strip, but when I do I just drop one in my back left pocket. It's easy to reach and there's rarely anything else in that pocket.

When I carry them they just go in a convenient pocket. Most often the zippered pocket inside the handwarmer pocket of the vest I am wearing. The revolver is in the same pocket on my strong side.

I carried one in a jeans pocket for a while. It was annoying to me, and I often found that one or two rounds would fall out of the strip. I bought a slim leather belt wallet made for the purpose. I usually wore it behind the gun. I stopped using it years ago while experimenting with speedloaders and have no idea where it went. These days I just carry spare ammo in loops.

I usually carry one in the watch pocket of my jeans, and another in a pocket of my photographers type vest. (Yea...yea...I know the photographers vest screams "GUN!" but I don't really care. The pockets come in handy for all kinds of things in the course of my daily running around.)

When I used them, I used to carry them in my watch pocket too, and had the same problem. They got washed a lot. They all shot later too.

Had the same problem with my Zippo when I carried it there too. At least the ammo didnt give you that Zippo "burn". :)

I much prefer the Safariland speed loaders over the strips though. Not quite as easy to carry/hide as the strips, but the gun is loaded a lot quicker when you need it.

I carry one in my right front pocket which is where I often carry my LCR. That makes it more accessible for reloading since my revolver will be held in my left hand while I retrieve my speed strip with my right. I carry a second speed strip either in a back pocket or the "extra" pocket of my 5.11s. I download the strips to 4 rounds so that I have a tab on each end and a gap in the middle. This facilitates loading 2 rounds at a time.
