Did the reporter violate federal law?
The story was of course anti gun, anti-Second Amendment.
Through the internet, the reporter finds a non FFL seller located in Texas and arranges to meet him in Texas. He buys the .50 rifle in Texas for cash and then goes home on an airplane with the rifle. I am guessing that he crossed state lines since CNN is not in Texas, and that he was not a Texas resident.
Was this a violation of Federal law? I thought that the exemption for sales by individuals, both residents of the same state was because it would not be an interstate transaction, but that if there was a sale between residents of different states, that the buyer had to have the rifle shipped to a FFL in his state and go through the necessary paperwork.
Of course, if this was a violation of Federal law, then a major piece of the CNN piece was flawed, because it is not possilbe to buy without paperwork as the peice claimed.
Shouldn't the CNN reporter and his co-conspiritors be prosecuted?
