Well, I guess that the subject says it all. For my next gun I am looking at either a CZ P01 or a Sig, probably either a P220, P226, or a SigPro. Prices are roughly the same (within $50-60). I would prefer something with a rail. It's not mandatory though.

What do you think, ladies and gentlemen? All opinions welcome. I know somebody is going to say it, so I'll beat you to it, "Get a Glock!" and "Get a 1911!":D I respect them both, but not what I'm looking for right now.

Thanks,
Calhoun

I would go for the SIG great guns. I have a Sig220ST and a Sig 226ST 9mm those both have rails. nothing wrong with the CZ but IMHO the Sigs are made much better...

I am gonna buck the trend and say get the CZ. It is made just as well as the Sigs at a reduced price. I never see NIB Sigs for less than $600 in my area, except for the Pro series.

This is not a knock on Sigs in general, but I just think the CZ is a better value. In may area they can be bought for about $460 new.

I would take the P-01 personally. But SIGs just don't seem to fit me quite right. Good guns... great guns even... Accurate and reliable. If I was issued one, I would carry it with pride and faith, but they feel pretty blocky in my hands. CZs on the other hand (in the other hand :p ) are about the most ergonomic guns I've ever held, esp the P-01/PCR.

As an aside, my PCR directly replaced my P229 as my daily carry gun.

I have 2 Sigs, the P239 (9mm.) and the P229 (.40 S&W) and 1 CZ PCR.
The Sigs are great guns but the CZ just feels better in my hands and it cost less.
Either way, you can't go wrong.

As a self proclaimed CZHEAD :D and lover of things Sig..........Id say the 229 and PCR are as close as you can have to the same gun made by different companies. The PO1 is close to the PCR's son..........the 226 and 220 are MY FAV Sigs........the 220 ST I sold still breaks my heart.

Id say look at the smaller Sigs if you are gonna go that way........228-229 or the CZ PO1..........either way you could do alot worse...

Shoot well

I am faced with the same dilemma.
Both have alloy frames.
Both have decockers instead of manual safety.
Both are accurate and fits well in the hand.
Both have good track records.
Both are accurate.

But the CZ-PO1 is cheaper for the performance against the Sigs. I can also buy cheaper magazines with the CZ's. For now, I'll get the CZ. But I'll still consider Sig on the next purchase.

I sold my P-01 to buy a Sig P228. Best move I ever made. You can guess what I would do. The Sig triggers are better in my experience but they are both quality firearms.

A few months ago I was deciding between a P-01 and a 228. I had owned a SIG before (239), and had shot CZ 75s and SIG 226s.

Coming from a Browning Hi Power, the P-01 felt great in my hand. But three things kept me from selecting the CZ. I prefer the trigger on the SIG, I did not care for the half height slide serrations on the P-01, and I do not like light rails (but that is a feature you seek).

I also got a great deal on the 228. Have you looked into police trade-in SIGs? They have been refurbished by the factory and come with a one year warranty. Many great deals out there just now.

I may yet get a P-01 for my wife. She really liked the feel of the Hi Power, so the CZ may be the gun for her.

You need to get a BERSA Thun---

Hey, come on, this is pure reflex for me.
It was like waving red meat... oh, never mind.
:) :) :) :)

Tough call. There is no "winner" in this one.
Or said the other way, there is no "loser"... ;)

Hrmm... 229 or P-01? 228 or P-01?

Can't go wrong but as I said, the P-01/PCR fits my hands like custom made gloves.

just bought a PO1...

shoots like a target pistol , no sig i've shot other than a 210 shoots as well as this CZ...
no comparison between 226/225/228/BDA/220/etc. and this little CZ...
no contest whatsoever... CZ hands down ...

I've owned both and love both, but at the moment I'm carrying my P-01. It just fits my hand better, but I would carry a P228 again in an instant if I had to. Try so shoot em both and get the one that you like best. Or better yet, buy both. :)
