Daughter's school

I am not even sure he is an "old soldier". Although the story is quite outrageous.

Let me qualify that:

I was in airborne. I haven't even told my family everything I did, I don't think they would understand.

That is a very strange thing to say.

This one is odd because the OP doesn't follow the pattern of silly trolls ... he has posted in the gun related forums quite often (like the Rifle Country) ... usually this type of trolling is done by folk that only post in General and/or Legal.

So I'm not going to say for sure 100% BS, but the story does seem a little out there.

I'd like to see some verification.

At any rate, if its true he needs to contact the NRA and get them to do a story on it (and maybe fire up a lawyer or two) ... also as has been stated, talk radio would have a field day with this one, hell if this is true FoxNews and even the leftist media would probably have a field day with it.

I'm sorry, but without verification of some kind, I just don't believe the original post. I'll leave this thread open for the time being, working under the assumption that the OP will return with some sort of actual proof of this.

Almost too hard to believe but I would demand her resignation

+1

It's one thing to have those opinions, but that is ridiculous. "Go see what kind of guns mommy and daddy have and where they are kept and come back and tell me. Guns are bad and so are your parents!" :barf:

Outrageous.

EDIT: didnt read the whole thread. I guess i didn't consider this could be a fake/troll story. However, i never underestimate human behaviour, because it always surprises me.

As a school administrator, I will chime in.

Teachers cannot suspend or expel.

Principals cannot expel. They can suspend and make a recommendation for expulsion, which requires a formal hearing with the school board.

School Boards can expel after a hearing if they deem it necessary to the saftey of the school environment

As far as the teacher goes, if she was one of mine and non-tenured, she would be out of a job. Tenured (thanks to the teacher unions) would be a larger hassle, but I would certainly get her out of my building.

Um, since when does a student get expelled for not completing an assignment? Or even suspended?

I have never heard of that... Does the teacher have that kind of athority?

If so, The school board and their lawyer would be hearing from me...

Let me qualify that:

I don't know, I was in the Submarine Service and there is a lot of things that I still have not told my wife and I've been out 15 years now. I know she wouldn't understand some of the silly stufff I did let alone the classified stuf.

Other than that Something just don't smell right about this whole deal. more info is needed.

We had a similar if less dramatic incident right here in good old pro gun Montana with one of our kids. A high school teacher assigned them to count how many guns were in their house and report the number back to him. Naturally the assignment was not completed, but without negative results.

Crap my wife doesn't even know the exact count. By the way what town/city was this in?

I as well am leary of the story, but in the spirit of good faith, I'll say that you should be proud of your daughter. Good for her.

I'd also be calling for the teachers resignation. I'm usually pretty easy going these days and let most things go. But this... I'd take that road to its end.

if you have a problem with what i have to say then please dont be an internet coward cause i only live about and hour away

Whoa. What's THAT supposed to mean?

It does sound fishy, but to give him the benefit of the doubt, We know that teachers can't expel. The teacher knows knows she can't expel, the principal knows the teacher can't expel, but the kids don't know that the teacher can't expel, and the threat of expulsion for a 2nd or 3rd grader coming from their teacher is very powerful.

A teacher with an agenda and a feeling of impunity brought about by fear or tenure could feel foolhardy enough to try something like that. People who molest children bank on that same fear that they can instill in their victims. "Do what I say and don't tell anyone, or else" is a pretty powerful thing to small children.

Luckily for children and society, kids are learning faster to distinguish the line between authority and Bullfeces.

She then said the assignments that had been completed(several others refused or turned in blank papers) were turned over to the police so that when the next president is in office, they'll order the complete seizure of all firearms!

Sounds fishy to me. I don't believe it - sorry.

In my class we talk about guns and I demand to know about some of the kids guns so we can argue best caliber for deer, favorite brand, etc. I have one student whose mom buys him a gun every year on his birthday. She sometimes calls me for advice. We have a shooting club at our school. The atmosphere is very pro-gun. Just don't bring it to school to show it off.

(Our club guns are stored at a local Shooting Club Storage Facility)

deleted because Im an idiot with sporadic reading comprehension issues, well beyond issues actually.

Overall I still dont buy it

Seems a little on the extreme end, but on the chance that its true, Good on the daughter. If it is BS, I consider it a weak fable. It definitely taught me a lesson; I gotta add "none of anyones' business" to the things I teach my kids about guns (whenever I have kids).

Do you happen to live in the Soviet Union?

Chalk one up for a teacher who needs to be fired, and another for the Teacher's Union which won't let that happen. :barf:

Except that he didn't claim that the girl was threatened with explusion. He claimed that she actually was expelled, and had to meet with the principal about it.

This one isn't even close to believable. I smell a cry for attention.

Kudos to your daughter for standing up on this issue.

Homeschooling will help you avoid this sort of nonsense.
