The only problem with home schooling is . . .

As long as you still pay taxes, a portion of which go to the Board of Edu., the system actually benefits from you pulling your child out. That's one less kid they have to buy a book for, and your tax dollars are still going to support something you don't approve of.

I cannot tell you what to do in this case. I will say that this teacher has probably read one too many Brady campaign newsletters.

well.. I was threatened with expulsion on many occasions by my teachers. nothing ever came of it, they were idle threats. the only real time the gun debate came up in school for me went something like this....

My teacher in high school for "US government" class taught that " the 2nd amendment allows people to have guns, but do you need a 30rd mag to hunt deer, no, ok next lesson...

When I raised my hand to object this is what his reply was. " i really don't care what u believe, but this is what i HAVE to teach. so fill out what i said on the test, and then go about believing what you want because nobody here cares, I know that, you know that, thats why where just filling out papers to get everyone there diploma. IF you want to fight for a cause do it in college where i don't have to be bothered."

I put my hand down and did just that...........

OMG that school would belong to me. I would have the teacher, principal, school board and superintendent FIRED. This is crazy I would not send her back to that school or to that school district.

Lies only hurt our cause. The reason we have been winning the fight is because we do not try to pass off lies as truth and the enemy does.

It is good that the enemy has only lies and emotional appeals as their only weapons. These are not weapons that we can pick up and use.

I completely agree. There is a saying that I bear in mind frequently that says that the surest way to discredit an idea or a movement is to defend it by intentionally misrepresenting the facts. The last thing we need is to rally behind an obvious absurdity.

I don't believe this story. I think it is a mistake to go charging off half-cocked when people are trying to fool us. It makes us look... foolish.

If the story is true, well, I've been wrong before. Proof is possible and will be accepted. Without proof... well... where does it buy us anything to accept absurdities and end up looking like idiots? I just don't see how it helps "The cause".

I have never heard of a teacher having the power to suspend a student, much less expel one. No principal I know of would do that. Either the principal is conning you or the teacher conned him to get this done. Usually you are buried in parent teacher prinicpal conferences before anything happens.

Leaving the "each and every one of you" falsehood alone (do try finding a post of mine in the tactics forum; you'll have a difficult time finding nonexistent posts), there is a distinct difference between discussing theoretical scenarios as theoretical scenarios and treating falsehoods as facts.

It is one thing to posit a hypothetical situation and use that as a mental exercise for how one might deal with the situation even while knowing that said situation is not reality. It is another to treat a hypothetical situation as though it were reality.

For example, every time I drive somewhere, I could, hypothetically, be hit by a drunk driver. Treating this as a hypothetical situation leads to me being sure to maintain alertness while driving without assuming that I actually will be hit; that is to say, I attempt to reasonably mitigate the risks of the hypothetical occurrence without assuming that the hypothetical situation is a certainty. If I were to treat it as reality, I wouldn't even get into the car. Treating hypothetical situations as hypothetical situations leads to proper preparation. Treating hypothetical situations as reality leads to paranoia and reduces one's credibility as well as one's ability to function in society.
