how to disassemble buttstock parts in Rem 1100?

Hi all,

I am trying to completely disassemble the parts internal to my Remington 1100 so I can replace the action recoil spring. How do I do it?

I've removed the butt plate, but I'm not sure how to remove the nut (is it a nut) at the end of the action spring tube.

What steps do I need to take? Thanks!

NOTE: This is an 1100 manufactured in 1968, so its parts may not match those of today.

Basically what I want to know is... after I take out the link, what are the steps I need to take to completely disassemble the butt stock?
