How about you tell me why concealing a firearm means someone has bad intentions or is bad or whatever. What reasons support that statement, other than an old guy told you so...

He said, "Those that are up to no-good hide their weapons."

He did not say, "ONLY those that are up to no-good hide their weapons."

Yes A square is always a rectangle, but a rectangle is not always a square. Those up to no good always hide their weapons, but those who hide their weapons are not always up to no good.

You guys and semantics, geez. =p

Glad to hear I handled it well. I'll be sure to contact sprint about it. I hate the whole "only uniformed police officers" thing. Its a very naive and closed minded idea.

What I'd love to know is if they'd turn away the local police chief open carrying if he chooses not to wear a uniform...

Really, it does sound like it was handled well, and it cant hurt to pursue the matter up the chain. Best case scenario, the stores workers get a bit better training on how to handle matters, middle of the road, you might make out with a bill discount, and worst case scenario, nothing changes other than a few polite replies.

and that they should be able to choose at will who their patrons should be.

I disagree with this part of your statement, Skribs.

When a business opens it's doors to the public to trade and transact with the public it doesn't get to pick and choose who that public is. As long as a patron isn't being disruptive to the business (ie; shoplifting, fighting, horseplaying, damaging property, hassling employees or other customers, useing/selling dope, being unsanitary or unsafe, etc., etc.) he/she shouldn't be hassled.

I believe open carry should be legal everywhere but I personally see nothing wrong with a business telling you to conceal your firearm while on their premises. They have to deal with a multitude of customers and a large number of them are hoplophobes.

I would have gone back concealed, but printing so that there was no question that I was carrying.

I hide mine. Do you assume I am up to no good?
The statement was: "Those that are up to no good hide their weapons", it was NOT those that hide their weapons are up to no-good.

Do you see a difference?

Mine is hidden if the weather is such that I am wearing a coat...I never intentially conceal, but I also do not dress specifically to conceal, I dress for the weather and what I am doing, if my carry is in the open, so be it, if it is covered, so be it. I prefer it to be in the open myself.

The difference is irrelevant because both statements are incorrect generalizations.

And it has nothing to do with the original post. So the whole argument is irrelevant.

Don't know about you but I don't recall the last time someone robbed a store after first walking in with an openly worn handgun.

Bingo!

I concealed carry because it's a requirement of the law here. Not preference.

Face it there are a lot of people who are scared of guns. We need to just get over that and do the best we can. The OP did the right thing. Confrontations just make us look like nutjobs.Sorry, that's the way it is. I probably would have gone back carrying concealed or maybe just left it in the car.
