Since my 442 is a backup gun, I haven't spent a lot of money on holsters for it. I have an Uncle Mike's pocket holster for the occasional primary carry. More often it's in a Bianchi Triad ankle holster. I also have a Fobus paddle holster for the very rare belt carry.

Although I often pocket carry (Mika), pocket carry is not a good option for in the car or while sitting. I use a Caldwell Gunleather for OWB and he usually has them in stock on ebay; he makes a good holster at a good price point. The Mikas are very functional, utilitarian, good quality, and priced right but you wait.

For OWB carry, it's tough to beat the price point and speed of a Don Hume JIT. For IWB carry, a Don Hume H715MSO works well.

Mike Pocket Holster. The most comfortable way I carry my J-Frame. After that, the Galco King Tuk works very well for IWB carry and any pancake type holster works for belt carry.

Have two holsters for my S&W 640-1, a Comp-TAC CTAC IWB and a Galco Ankle Glove.

I carry that hammer shrouded J-Frame when I want a bit more concealment.

None of my J frames have a hammer spur so the Don Hume works well and it's priced right.

Good for you. But many of use still carry j-frames equipped with hammer spur. In which case the DH holster is not a good choice.

I carry mine in a BlackHawk #2 inside the pocket.. The golf ball impression is minimized in cargo shorts with deep pockets..

I bought a Simply Rugged with removable IWB straps. In the summer the holster goes inside using the straps and in winter the straps come off and I can use the belt loops. Works great (See on right).

DeSantis Summer Heat with my 638 is great both Appendix and 3:30 to 5:00 o'clock carry.

In the same DeSantis Cozy Partner IWB that I bought 25+ years ago. Now that we're finally getting CCW here in IL I treated myself to a new holster - a Lobo 1-SL-X snap-off crossdraw.

I carry a J-frame Smith 442 quite a bit.

I use a cheap Blackhawk for Appendix carry. It conceals well with wooden magna stocks or Hogue Bantams (Which the gun sports now). I have ran over 1,000 miles with that set-up and run 2+ miles a day with it still.

I use a Robert Mika pocket holster on rare occasions, it works well but I usually have a NAA mini in my pocket.

I carry my S+W 340pd with a clipdraw its stays put and its easy on and easy off and I don't even know it's there. Yea I know ( you have to cover the trigger guard) with a 10-12 lb trigger pull I could live with that. Works for me better then sticking a thick piece of leather down my pants and can't wait to take it off.

This is my favorite J frame holster, an old Speed Safety worn cross draw.

There are a lot of similar holsters out there. (Speed Safety is gone.)
