Silly Gun Ads

Of course, splashy ads like those will draw the anti's ire as well. Remember the Black Talon stink? The sheep were really scared by the silly advertising. Result; more bad press and banning attempts.

If done tastefully, attractive ladies can be a true sales asset. Just check out Dillon Precision's Blue Press magazine/catalog, or CobraSkinz ads in American Handgunner and Guns magazines.

I thought I was the only one who thought that about the BLACKHAWK!!!!!111!11LOL advertising. I'm in advertising and the first time I saw that stuff I couldn't believe it.

There's some company, I think it's "Iron Wolf" that has this awfully drawn werewolf for its mascot... I have seriously considered asking them if they would like me to redo their corporate identity... stuff like that and the Blackhawk testosterone stroke fest turn me right off. It's now how I think the pro-gun movement needs to be seen.

JMHO

The trouble is that even otherwise excellent companies have fallen for the "black and tactical" advertising gimmick. For example, just check out the Wilson Combat catalog... last time I checked, the word "tactical" appeared over 160 times!!!

:what: :fire: :barf:

I agree with everything said so far in this thread, however, I think that HK had the silliest gun ad ever. You know, the one with the cartridges loaded in the magazine backwards?

Let's not forget http://www.vulcanarmament.com Final verdict on them: They're Hesse under an different name.

Not to defend the quality of their product, but Vulcan's owner is very outspoken in his defense of Second Amendment rights. The man doesn't mince words.

Ah, yes. "Your 1911 may feed empty cases, but our P2000 will feed 'em backwards!"

LOL.

I bought some handgun rag a week ago and took it to work to read at lunch. I was a little embarassed by the advertisements (same ones as in thread starter) and ended up reading other parts of the rag while at lunch so that others wouldn't think I'm a complete loon.

When I saw the ads, all I could think of was someone contracted with WWE (formerly WWF) to do their ads.

I always thought that the words "well-regulated," in reference to the late 18th century definition, meant "well-maintained" by today's meanings. Poorly made/guaranteed goods (that cost as much as decently-made versions) don't seem to coincide with "well-maintained."

As for the "stoner," I think he got some of his uber-tactical face paint in his eyes. :scrutiny:

Those are nothing.

Look at this... the Coleman 70-Quart Xtreme® Cooler. It's cool and Xtreme at the same time.

It isn't even black carbon fiber... it hides its tacticality by looking like your everyday cooler. That cooler cunning is what makes it SO tactical. You'd walk right past it and not even realize how xtreme it is. That's its trick.

Cobra Gunskins' ads are pretty silly. Slinky babe in bodysuit(?) touting some sort of holster with a non-functional URL. I've never had sufficient curiousity to call the 800# to see if they actually have any products (besides posters of the babe).

Is he hunting for a snack?

OMG, too bloody funny! :D

Hey, can anybody point me to that HK ad that had the bullets in backwards? My buddy never saw it and doesn't believe me... can't seem to find it, though.

In answer to the question, I personally get sick to my stomach when I see Blackhawk's ads. Just absolutely terrible. :barf:

So what do they sell? (rhetorical) I got so distracted by the curves in their ad I didn't even know what they sold!

Iron Wolf Enterprises...... always showing some good looking girl in a bikini,
"Cobra Gunskins' ads are pretty silly. Slinky babe in bodysuit(

Anybody have a link to either/both of the above.....
I am interested to see what type of products these guys have to offer.....

I think the "girls with guns" type of ads (*cough* Dillon Precision *cough*) are the most embarassing.
