What is your favorite handgun (choose one) and why did you choose it?

If you are going to hold me to one it would be a magnum flavor N-frame in brite blue or nickel. Bet you thought I was going to say Colt Gummit Model! :D

Tough choice, but for me its the Browning Hi Power. Simple, single action, slim, elegant, very accurate and 100% reliable with all types of 9MM.

This is an easy one... USP .45f.

It's my only handgun (for now).

I got such a nice feeling reading people recall the reasons for why a particular gun is their favorite. Just goes to show how much of a passion our hobby and interests can become...
so, on that note, I would have to say my favorite would be my blue 4" colt python. I had wanted one for so long, and a friend of the family figured he had held on to one long enough and knew that it would be given a proper home and care. He didn't exactly 'give' it to me, but for what I see them selling for now, it seems he did. Best money I ever spent.

I've been thinking about this a bunch since it was posted. The answer is "It depends". If ammo availability is a potential problem then I would select the Ruger NMBH in .357/9mm to give more ammunition opportunities. If ammo is not an issue, it would be a KGP141 .357.
I recently got a BlackHawk in 45LC/45ACP. I really like fact that I can shoot relatively cheap 45 ACP with out magazines or moon clips. No chasing brass and I can load from light wad loads to top end floored with out any concern of damaging the gun. After a few hundred rounds, it may become the "only one gun".

I'm a gonna stick with the Model 24.
I'm not rich but I own or have owned most every kind of handgun
I ever wanted. I tried the rest.
When it comes down to 1 it will be my 4"M24.

Plenty powderfu for any handgun task, more accurate than any human can hold it and a real joy to use, and carry.

My favorite would have to be my 1943 production Remington Rand 1911A1. My grandfather carried it as a Marine in the Marshalls during WW2. My father took it with him to Vietnam as a Marine where it served him well. I took it with me to the Persian Gulf and Somalia as a Marine.

This gun easily has 10,000 rounds through it, sounds like a bucket of bolts when you shake it, and only functions with 230gr. FMJ ball ammo. And yet, it has never let down the 3 generations of Marines that have carried it.

I have newer guns. I have neater guns. I have more powerful guns. This one is still my favorite.

Easy. My Phaser! Set to Stun or set to Vaporize, my Phaser does it all!

:D

Well, okay. Real life? My Sistema. It does the job.

I'd have to say my Sig 229. It gives me all the versatility I need. It came in 40 S&W and since then I've added a factory 357 Sig bbl and a Bar-Sto 9mm bbl. They all work great in the 229. Not one single hiccup or FTF.

It would be the perfect weapon if I could find some way fit a 45 bbl into it.

I'd have to pick my Sig P225. It's fairly easy to change things like grips, sites, holsters etc. I can get 9mm anywhere. It fits my hand and I shoot it well. And it'll fire the federal EFMJ 9mm just fine.

H&K USP Compact .40 S&W. with night sights. its the only handgun i own. good for plinking, carrying, defense. has plenty of power 10+1 capacity, tough as nails and semi-reasonably priced practice ammo. option to carry cocked and locked or hammer down/saftey on or off. best of all worlds in my opinion.

S&W 629 hands down one of the nicest guns I've ever owned.

Too bad S&W won't abandon the HUD agreement so I can get some more

Gold engraved unfired Colt series 80 45 acp. According to the Web site they are still for sale at around $1800, I paid no more than a good used price for it:what: The pawn shop didn't know what they had, I did. Still haven't fired it yet.:)
