What pistol do you most regret selling?

Ruger Service-Six .357 with 4 inch barrel (gave to my foster brother - replaced with an exact duplicate made the same year as the one I gave away)
Erma .22 toggle-top (gave to my best man)
Charter Arms UnderCover .38SPL (sold to the wife of a brother Lieutenant)

Colt Gold Cup Mk IV Series 80 National Match stainless that I bought new in the late 80s and sold for $500 in 1997.

The only gun I ever sold that really wish I had kept.

Where to start? I don't know. Here's a few.....

S&W M&P 38 Target model made in the 1920's
Colt Trooper MkIII 8 inch nickel
Colt Detective Special with royal blue finish
1908 Luger all matching 90%
S&W 586 no dash 6 inch
Ruger std 22 first model

Which one?

All of them save a POS 1911 I ordered from Navy Arms--looked like it had been left and a barn, and repaired with tractor parts. Almost could still see the RR roll stamp, and a vague color between bare steel and a 1/4-strength bluing.

Sold my first gun to a buddy of mine when broke, and regretted that for a long time. Even when I got it back from his widow. Still have it, too, with that sort of cachet and baggage, it's a CDF keeper.

I have only sold one gun in my life, a pos .25 Saturday night special. I have no regrets, but a friend of mine with a very nice gun collection told me this week that he sold his guns to make mortgage payments so he wouldn't lose his home. He ran out of guns and now they are foreclosing on his house...bummer. :( I think the lesson here is to let the house go before the gun collection. You might end up in an apartment, trailer or tent, but at least you will still have your guns.

Obviously it's his as you sold it to him and he's not legally obligated to sell it back. But to stand in between a son owning his father's gun is just selfish beyond acceptability.

+1

Dan Wesson 357 Magnum... Sold it to a friend that needed it for a security guard gig. I loved the interchangeable barrels.

The SW Model 19 with 6" barrel. My wife told me I would regret it and I did almost instantly.

I feel your pain.....I owned two of those, at separate times. Finest guns I've ever owned, had to sell them because I decided to ruin my life and get into a "relationship". I've lived in hell ever since.

A New Model Number 3 S&W in 44 Russian. The gun was a strong 98% and had a 4 inch service barrel and a 6.5 inch target barrel all matching serial numbers. The gun was original. I bought it for $1300 before the SASS craze started. Around five years ago I sold it for $3600. A decent profit, but a sale I will always regret. I had a chance to get it back, but at a considerable mark up. Guess I will just have to live with the memories.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I must have been nuts to sell my Mauser HSC in a .32acp. The pistol never gave me any problems on the range and I carried it on occasion...Money is long gone and all I have is memories...

I've bought and sold many, but I regret parting with only a handful of them. One that I do regret selling was a S&W 696 no-dash, but only because I sold it too soon. It was a beautiful revolver, but I didn't enjoy shooting it as much as other things I have. I sold it for what was a good price at the time. Now, though, they're selling for a few hundred above that point. Oh well. I also regret selling a cheap Star BM that I had. They're not as cheap anymore, but I may buy one again anyway.

Sansone, I agree with Prion about your dad's gun. I have a mint 1982 S&W 66 that my dad bought new and now I say I'm only babysitting it. I'd sell the house before that revolver! Memories of our informal matches can't be sold. I won't say he's not your friend but I do think (if you havn't done it) you need to have a real heart to heart with him.

I had one of the first Walther PK380's made. Single digit serial number. Let it go for a like new N-Frame. Best size/weight ratio conceal carry gun I have ever had.

A Kahr MK9 Elite 98 with Trijicon night sites, wood grips and an HBE DC Special ... sold it because I hardly ever carried it but since then there have been times when such a small gun would have been nice (now I'm stuck with my wife's KelTec P3AT when I need a pocket gun).

Sold it to a gentleman in rural Nebraska who's wife immediately commandeered it :p
