A lot of the people on here seem to talk like they have unlimited means to buy guns, which got me wondering....

HA!

How old is everyone?
What kind of job do you have?
Married/single/family?

48.

Underpaid Geek. You do something I told you not to with your computer, I make it all better.

Married (counts on fingers (yes, you can count to numbers greater than 20 on your fingers)) 26 years, sole support (though the older 3 kids are able to buy their own toys not they're not yet independant) for a family of 7.

So, no, I don't have a great deal of spare cash to spend on guns. I reload .45, .38 and now .40 S&M on a single stage press, in order to afford to shoot more than trivial ammounts of ammo. I go for high value per dollar weapons, and tend to have to save from side jobs for quite a while to get them. That's why I talk about Makarovs, and my Ruger, not about Kimber|SIG|HK|latest custom wonder gun.

-32
-Criminal Investigator for the U.S. Marshals Service
-3 girls
-1 wife
-several suv's
-take home crown vic
-lots of guns, my own and the G's..

-could not be happier..........

-19 y/o male piano performance major at USC.

-No g/f. :(

-Bought both of my rifles when I was working full time and had some disposable income.

-I can afford to shoot because a) I have 1000s of rounds of .22 and it's cheap to procure more, and; b) I handload for my .308, which cuts the cost immensely, and; c) I make some spare cash on the side by working as an accompanist and playing the occasional gig. I want to start teaching privately on the side, also.

57 years old, General Manager of a small corp.

Married with three children all over 30. Haven't had a kid living at home in over 10 years. One still lives within 100 miles, two over 1500 miles away.

Wife shoots, usually a Glock 19, I prefer an old Colt Combat Commander in 45acp I've had for 20 years. With both of us shooting it's not hard to sneak a new gun into the house. What's hard is keeping it for myself.

59.9 YO retired Marine Vietnam Vet, test pilot. Worked in Pentagon for the last 20 years. We'll soon transition to mostly retired at our cottage on the Chesapeake. Have always had lots O' guns, but the new C&R is burning a hole in my pocket right now. Lean toward historically significant MILSURPs. Kids grown, 4 grandsons are near shooting age. Pretty thankful for all the good things life offers.

I'm forty-seven, Karelian Finn (1st generation American), lesbian, permanently disabled, Pagan.

I'm a housewife - Susan's support team (a full-time job, that), and I've written my first mystery novel (target audience: lesbian), still waiting to see if a publisher will pick it up (already working on two other stories, too!). Susan and I have been married twelve years (we both went through disastrous straight marriages, first). Susan's a tech in the oil & gas industry in Denver (her day job), and an EMT and VP of our local Rescue service evenings and weekends (to the order of +50 hours a week).

We shoot as often as time and health permits (Susan has a heart condition), study martial arts, and edged weapons. Home is at 9,200 ft in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

We're pro-choice, pro gay rights, pro-gun, against 'the war on drugs' and 'big brother' government. Nearly all of our friends are in emergency services.

Two cats, and a pied cockatiel.

Life is good.

28, chronically single, handgun designer.

I get paid fairly well, and work very hard to reduce my debt. I have been paying down my credit cards like a mad man (debt down almost 18k in the last 2 years), but still have a negative net worth. When I am done with that I intend to buy some rental houses, or condos, or some such. The goal is to have enough income from rental properties that I can afford to design what I want to design, instead of designing what the guys in marketing want to design.

Like skunk, I can fit everything except my safe, reloading bench, and bed in the back of my subaru.

I buy 1 or 2 guns a year, and a small mountain of reloading components.

59, divorced for 20 years, and have a 36 year old daughter. I work for my city doing purchasing for its fleet and plan to retire in a couple more years. Was paralyzed from the armpits down 5-1/2 years ago and spent three months in rehab learning to walk, etc. again. I can get around somewhat now, but I had to give up my hobbies of motorcycling, backpacking, and climbing. Luckily I love shooting, gun collecting, and reading. Don't have to use my legs too much for those.

Well, if I gotta, I gotta.

Age 35 as of a month ago, unmarried, no kids, no prospects, no debt, "pseudo-employed" doing sidework to keep in gas, bills, and eats until the economy recovers enough to make people feel rich enough to afford top-end home improvements and/or furniture so I can get a real job. (Unless I tumble onto a backer or win the lottery so's I can open my own shop.)

That also leaves me with a moral dilemma of being a member of a union which is responsible for the highest wages I've ever earned, (Some 60-ish grand/year.) but has a leadership and organization that espouses political ideals that I disagree with on a fundamental level.

I have one 20-year-old Porsche 928 that qualifies as a beater, and a well-used '77 GMC pick-up truck I acquired when some waste of good oxygen stole the Porsche, which has since been recovered in more-or-less undamaged condition. I do all my own maintenance and mechanical work neccessary to keep both tired old beasts running.

I have about sixty guns, which is a lot more than most folks have, as I understand it. No family meant I got to get lots of toys when I was working regularly. (I would probably trade 'em all in for a family in a hot second, though. Being an isolationist gets old.)

Conversely, since being laid off, I went from being cramped by the PRK's one-a-month law to not having purchased a gun in almost two straight years. I think I've been to 2 gun shows in that time, where I would normally have hit 8-10. I don't buy much ammo either. And I shoot a LOT less.

Stupid state. I want my real job back so I don't have to be cheap anymore. Guns are not luxuries, they are neccessities. You hear me, Ah-nuld?

29 years old

Married 3 years

I'm a Technician at a German Car Dealership, my wife works for a State University.

We currently rent an apartment, have 2 Jeeps (Wrangler and Cherokee, both paid for), 1 Black Lab and no children

I don't have unlimited money for guns but I do have a gun budget that allows me to spend an average of $600-700 a month on shooting. SOme months I only spend a couple hundred on ammo other months it's $1300 in new gun. But this has only been the case for about a year now, before that we were paying for my wife's education and I could only spend $50 a month on ammo for the only gun I owned (Ruger P95). So I figure spending the amount on guns and ammo that I do is just making up for the years that she was in Grad school.

And I'm trying to get as many guns as I can before all my money starts going to a house and I can't buy as many guns as I would like.

21, semi-single, no kids, one debt that hurts my gun funds (layaway is a good thing) living about 20 miles outside of Columbus, Georgia.

I'm a technician at a Lincoln-Mercury & Isuzu dealership. I go to school part-time at night to better myself for car stuff, two more quarters and I'll transfer to something in-line with computers or machinery. Guns might be on even longer hold as I save my pennies and try to buy a house within the next couple years or so.

21 since October 21st

Got my first and only gun with money given me for my b-day (specified for the purchase of my first gun so I HAD to.)

Engaged to Gus's Guy (Jonathan)

I have low debt, since I've been working to pay off bills as I go, and living with my parents is a lot cheaper than anything esle.

Perfessr is my daddy, and he owes me more money than I currently own. :D :neener:

I work with my dad as an Equipment processor and do anything and everything they tell me to do. I also babysit almost every Fri and Sat night. I am a student at Millersville University to get a degree in English with an option in journalism and a minor in......I haven't decided. (possibly commumications, writing, PR or broadcasting.)

Always great to hear about everyone. :D

Single, no kids. IPRA and ACRA Saddle Bronc Rider, Freightliner Service Tech (Diesel Mechanic). 123 head of cattle, 3 horses, 1 blue heeler, Have purchased 3 handguns in the last 5 months. The newest being a New Rollmarked Stainless Colt Commander which I brought home today.

Got my gun money the old fashioned way....worked my buns off for it restoring Corvettes, street rods, and upper end sports cars (hence the name "Rembrandt"). Each time one was completed, all the proceeds went into a firearm. I can go to the safe and tell you which car bought which gun. Outside of the normal hunting and target firearms, the bulk of the collection is collectible pieces....somewhat partial to highly engraved European guns.

52 years old, work in the field of Agronomy Seed research....spend a lot of time traveling in both North and South America. Married to Mrs Rembrandt for nearly 28 years. Two grown sons who are now through college and married.

I've made it to 53 yrs. old. Married, (one wife...32yrs.)...two sons. Soon to be a grandfather. Dental lab tech. Once I hunted more than I do now. Mostly just target shoot lately. I own more guns than I really need...but less than I want! We have one cat... and a 'possum living in the garage.
Driving a F-150 and sometimes my brothers Harley. When I'm not shooting a firearm, I've usually got a camera in hand. Theres other stuff, but its not very interesting.

Age: 38
Marital Status: In the midst of a divorce (guns were a major issue)
Job: Corporate Whore (when the divorce is over, I'll quit)
Kids: None
Pets: None
Guns: Lots

Who am I? Wouldn't I like to know...

33, married, w/5 dependents: 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 snakes.

I'm a service rep for a finance company.

Acquired my guns in my 20's when I was single; I reload to keep my shooting costs down.

I've noticed that marriage and home ownership tend to make "disposable income" a thing of the past...
