Worst firearms maker?

Too bad we're not talking about components , or I'd throw in William's Arms alumibomb FAL receivers and Olympic Arms FALs built usng his deigned steel receivers .

I had an "Excam" copy of the baby FN Browning in .25ACP that was given to me by a friend who thought I could fix it somehow. It would either jam the extraction on every round, or fire off a few of its own after my single trigger pull. It was always either/or, every single trigger pull resulted in SOME kind of trouble with the stupid thing. After about 75 rounds fired, I was so disgusted with the stupid thing that I took a hammer to it.
I have no idea who really made it, there's SO many forgeries and knock-offs of the FN guns it is almost insane.

I like it when I read that someone thinks

Taurus, Mossberg, Stoeger, Savage, Weatherby, Colt.....or any other quality gun maker is the worst ever. I mean really how dose a major manufacturer make nothing but poor quality guns? Its not possible. Any crap gun is gonna come from a small mostly unknown name. Like Phoenix Arms.

I think its funny. I cant believe that you would pick somthing like a Llama over one of these fine firearms.

Sure you may be one of the guys out there that have a Colt that diddnt work right, but dose that make them worse than Llama? Have you ever held/shot/seen a Llama? How do you decide this? Have you been to a pawn shop? Have you seen the Lorcin? Heck Id take a Stoeger anything before Id take a hundred NIB Lorcins.

AMT. Some years ago I bought a .380 Kurz "Back Up" for my girl at the time. Don't mean to denigrate the company (if they are still in business) but it was a total POS! Mag. fit, FTF, etc. Yikes.

For a second I thought I wasn't going to get to play. But I remembered I once owned a Llama 380 while I was in college. For some reason, that thing bit the web of my hand every time I shot it. I would come home from the range looking like I'd been fighting a rat.

The I left it in the trunk of my car for several weeks during the rainy season. (The trunk leaked.) By the time I remembered it was in there it looked like it had the mange.

I stripped the blue and rust off, and tried to cold blue the entire gun. That was the ugliest sorry excuse of a gun I had ever seen.

Advertised it for sale and it sold really fast. Like, $75 or something.

I can only comment on firearms I've owned.

1. Stoeger Condor II, I had one about ten years ago, every time I pulled the trigger it would double. I sent it back to the factory for repair, it worked fine for about 2 boxes, then it started doubling again. Last year I purchased a Browning 525, my buddy told me I was stupid for spending $2500+ on a gun. He went ahead and proved me wrong by buying a Stoger Condor II, guess what, same problem.

2. Savage ( rifle ), I've never owned one but have fired one. They seem accurate enough, but when you shake them it sounds like there are BB's in the action.

3. H&R heavy barrelled 17 HMR, 3" groups @50 yds. I thought what a P.O.S. round, until I bought a Ruger, .88" @ 100 yds.

So if you like cheap guns, more power to you, I just haven't had any luck with them.

The worst of the worst I have owned was a Taurus Model 83 "heavy", in nickel. Bad rifling, leaded up so bad it had to be chisled out with a brass screwdriver. Timing was off a mile. Action was "crunchy" to put it mildly, insides were full of some sort of gritty stuff. Cylinder not flat across face, the gun would freeze up after about 12 shots on the high point. Sold it as quickly was possibe.

Another dog was the FTL(not sure what it meant) "Auto Nine". Looked great, but was amazingly sensitive on ammo used. Standard .22LR's would blow the extactor in a couple of shots. Lots of .22 shorts wouldn't quite cycle it right, ones that worked were very difficult to find. Had it fixed and sold it right away. New owner ignored both the gun store's and my warnings about ammo and blew the extractor in one shot.

FEG 380, don't remember the model, bought one after shooting a friends. Mine couldn't have been more different if it had come from another planet. Shot ok, had about a 30 pound DA pull, and about a 20 pound SA pull! Crunchy. Chamber was really rough and this caused a lot of sticking cases getting slammed by the slide trying to shove another cartridge in. A neigbor took it apart, cleaned it out, and up with a moto-tool, and this solved most of it's issues. He said it was like they never really finished it, everything was rough as hell inside. Most of the "crunch" was filings and "chips". Shooting 1000+ rounds through it solved the rest. The neighbor bought it about a year later.

Jennings/Lorcin/Raven
Hesse/Vulcan
Leinad
Charter Arms
Norinco shotguns

century arms KHAN semi auto shotgun

well a few years ago they had a sale at dunham sporting goods for a semi-auto khan shotgun for only 179.99!! Being only 18 at the time, I thought that had to be the deal of a lifetime. me and my good friend waited in line at 4 in the morning and we bought the last two. That turned out to be the biggest POS gun I have ever owned. it became a single shot shotgun when I spent most of my time clearing jams. it never loaded properly and I went to try and return it they said contact century firearms for the warranty service. That got no where and I tried to trade it in for something else and gander mountain and they said they didnt even want the gun lol. My friend also had the same problems as I did. It turns out a khan shotgun is the worst firearm I have ever encountered. I could shoot rounds faster with my winchester model 37 single shot than that thing.biggest POS and avoid at all costs. a beginners mistake.

Taurus in general exp.the PT908

That PT-908 I had would jam atleast once every mag.1st and only (to this date semi-auto pistol I've owned).Lets hope a new Bereatta or Springfield XD sometime this year dosen't completly ruin my opinion on semi-auto handgunds,or I'm gonna be a revolver man for life!

I am shocked - wow!!!!

Don't take this as a flame (cause I'm not flaming anyone), just am a bit shocked when Ruger and Taurus are used in the same sentence as Hi-point and Jennings. I guess everyone has their own opinion/experiences. :)

As far as "big name" gun companies are concerned, most of them put out a pretty good quality product, and customer service is generally very good.

As far as myself disliking their products for no particular reason, I am no great fan of Mossberg.

H&K for being corporate cowards and not wanting to make GOBS of money by making in the U.S.A. and selling semi auto MP-5s, G36s, PDWs, MP7s, etc.

My hi points have functioned flawlessly. My vulcan AK pistol is all but perfect (although my vulcan macs are nowhere NEAR the quality of my MPA macs). My Jimenez guns (formerly jennings/bryco) hiccup but have all worked well. My Taurus revolvers have all worked perfectly. My heritage revolvers have worked perfectly. My sigma pistols have NEVER given so much as a drop of trouble.

This thread has become exactly what I would expect: a thread for the elitists to bash guns that don't fit their personal specifications.

I hate seeing Taurus on these lists. Everyone I have ever owned has been a great gun. Lifetime warranty...You can't go wrong!
I vote for Jennings.

I have never owned a Hi-Point, but my dad had a 9mm carbine, and never had any issues with it. Butt-ugly but it went bang on request. That's about all I ask of a firearm.

As for my personal firearms, I can't single out a worst manufacturer. All but one of my firearms is a milsurp, and the last one is a Ruger that has given me NO trouble whatsoever, even with the el cheapo ammo that I feed it.
