Hello all,

I got a new box of 124grain RMR FMJ RN.
I’m also interested in trying a new powder.

What are you folks using under your 124grain 9mm? I’m primarily will be shooting indoors 7-15 yards.

I like Tightgroup 4.2grains @ 1.135 with 115gr FMJ RN but so far 4-4.1 grains under the 124 didn’t seem so grand and there is not much wiggle room left. I have CFE P which I love in 40 S&W but so far I’m not sure about it in 9mm. I was thinking about either AA#5 , AA#7 , Trueblue and maybe BE86.

Guess I m just kind of curious as to what others are using.

Have a great weekend!!

321, Bullseye, Universal, WST, Green Dot
Glad to hear someone likes Green Dot.
The guy I get most of my powder from has a 55 gallon drum full of powder. Not actually Green Dot but it says to load using Green Dot data.
Says he will give me a very good deal on some if I can use it.

Still using Titegroup, although I have tried several others, including the beloved BE-86. It has nothing to do with lower cost either, I just prefer it over all of the others I have tried.

As I've pointed out before, AA#7 was designed for full power 9mm. If that's what you are looking for, it's hard to beat.

Having said that, I've been burning up some old Trap 100, 3.5 -3.7 grains at a time, under a 124g Berry's TCFP. It makes a very easy shooting sub-1000fps, accurate round.

The 'best' powder really depends on what you are looking for.

I don't have much luck with copper plated bullets for accuracy, but my best load is a Hornady 124 XTP over CFE pistol. 2 MOA in a carbine at at around 1,400 fps.

Why does Titegroup not seem "grand?"
Why do you think CFE P not suitable?
Both are widely used in 9mm.
Me? I load HP38 but that is largely out of habit, I got set up for W231 many years ago and have not seen anything better except maybe out of a Ransom Rest where N340 was somewhat more accurate in one gun.

WSF is my favorite. Works well mid to high, not a much velocity on top as some others.
Not a common choice but most people who have tried it seem to like it.

CFE-P works well for me on the higher side of it's charge range.
For max vel maybe BE86.

Never said CFE P was not Suitable & I’d prefer more wiggle room with tightgroup im almost at max

Power Pistol, AA#5, Bullseye, etc. For full power loads I prefer PP.

Lots of powders work well for your needs. Pretty much any non magnum pistol powder will work. I've used unique, WST, 231, American Select, Red Dot, WSF, Silhouette, AutoComp, Power Pistol, BE-86, bullseye, and others. Favorite for my purposes was WST but I used up my 12 lbs of it. Currently loading 231. Unique is probably second favorite with American Select. Truthfully for moderate range loads there is little to choose between them IMO. Lots of good powders.

Moderate, around 1100fps
A number of medium speed powders will work well for that, some have been mentioned. AA #5, Silhouette, BE-86, WSF, N330 or 340, never tried CFE-P.

Silhouette and a 124 Gr JHP (RMR MPR) at 1157 Avg FPS.
