First they took the guns from felons and I did not speak out because I was not a felon.
Then they took the guns from those 21 and younger and I did not speak out because I was not that young.
Then they took the guns from those with mental illness and I did not speak out because I was not mentally ill.
Then they took the guns from those who opposed reasonable gun control and I did not speak out because I was not unreasonable.
Then they took the guns away from me and there was no one left to speak for me.
Even if you do speak out, and speak out loud and strong, it may very well end up that way anyway due to changing times and simple majorities.
I am of the opinion America currently has (3) basic 'positions' in the matter. 'Dyed in the Wool' 2A folks, "Antifa's" and a majority of America stuck in the middle who can relate to at least parts of each of the other 2 opposing positions.
That majority leaves neither the 2A folks or the Antifa's in ~full control~(?), so each group feels compelled to woo the 'middle' to have their lifestyle/beliefs accepted. Easily understood,,,
I fear nothing will be accomplished in this matter with out something resembling 'Arbitration', and if you've been through arbitration, you know neither side gets everything it wants and you always feel 'the other side' got too much,,,.
Myself ? I honestly don't ~fear~, (worst case scenario), that all guns will eventually be outlawed as I shoot primarily as a hobby. If they are, I'll find myself another hobby and get on with life..
Folks with other attractions / intimate personal relationships with firearms will obviously feel different about that, while folks who have had or seek to avoid 'negative/tragic' involvement with firearms would be quite pleased.
NRA is having it's big pow wow in TX as we speak, while Dicks appears to be hiring lobbyists to (almost certainly) try and initiate (additional) gun control.
Each has an equal right to address the issue as they see fit. Folks who end up with a raging case of chap - ass over either groups actions are certainly not representative of the 'middle', and would therefore, purely by definition, be closer to being considered an Extremist.
At the end of the day, when you look in that mirror, you have to admit,,, The only thing constant in this world is change.
Your willingness to accept change typically decreases over the years as you withdraw into your 'comfort zone', but at any age, acceptance of / willingness to fully understand change play's a big part in you overall happiness.
My ass certainly isn't chapped. Hope everyone else can find a way to keep theirs 'chap free' as well!
