Dicks Admits Corporate Gun Control Hurting Business

Yeah the employees at big box stores in general aren't "gun people" like most posting on here are. I am happy when I get somebody that is courteous and TRIES to help me. That said, the beef we have is Dick's corporate decision to crap on the gun owner because of political bias. I just will not support that. If it was about anything but gun owners (then they would call it discrimination!) the .gov would be all over them about it. We all have to educate those on the fence and show up on voting day en mass or things will continue on this path I am afraid.

The Academy a mile from my house use to have a gun guy at the counter but my last few trips I didn't see him. I still don't ask behind the counter guys advice though.

So where is this store with 3000 guns? I might want to take a road trip...........

Yes do tell. This is the makings of a GREAT road trip!

Black River Falls is the Jackson County Seat and has a population of about 3500. It also has obne of the oldest and the best Harley Davidson dealers in the country.

Bull Conner took his "stand" too.

I prefer to call both examples not of "integrity", but of stupidity, prejudice and malice.

Steadfast evil is still evil.

I'm thinkin' you mean Bull Connor, not Bull Conner. Correct me iffin I'm wrong.

Bull Connor denied Civil Rights, Dick's is just exercising their rights. If you truly believe that exercising those rights entitled to us here in America is evil, then you are in agreement with the anti-gun crowd. Dick's allows you to exercise your right to not shop there, and that is what a lot of gun owners have decided to do. Bull Connor did not give options.

Integrity means having strong convictions and standing up for them. History has shown us that those convictions, while maybe seeming to be correct at the time, have shown us later to be evil. Custer had his convictions about Native Americans too and slaughtered old men, woman and children in defense of them. He was once considered a hero for dying for those convictions. Dick's stance is not directly affecting anyone but themselves and their stockholders profits. They are not directly hurting anyone since anything they sell, for the most part, is easily obtained somewhere else. Even those really scary tennis balls. I see no malice in their decision, altho I do not agree with it. I also respect their right to their business decision, even tho I do not agree with it, just as I hope they respect my right to shop somewhere else if I so please. To do otherwise for either of us would be what's really stupid and prejudice.

I love to give my local Sportsman's Warehouse business. They almost always have prices at or below other local stores, the gun sales clerks are friendly, and have knowledge beyond what your typical big store will have (even if some of it is gun-magazine-esque). They also have a nice selection and you can side-by-side compare. They are also in fairly close proximity to Scheels which is a bit of a spectacle, but expensive and is inclusive of everything from Legos to AR-10s. I really love Sportsman's focus on the outdoorsman and want to keep them in business despite being in close proximity to Dick's, REI, Scheels, Cabela's, Big 5, etc.

As others have stated, Dick's decision to stop selling certain guns isn't a big issue.

Dick's decision to hire lobbyists to go after 2nd amendment rights and attempt to gets bans nationwide.

I wonder if Dick's was able to right off all those rifles and magazines that they destroyed? Maybe thsts why their numbers were so bad

Moe's is good place to buy your European calibers when you forget to order online...I also got a magazine for a Romanian m69 .22 there as well.

Sports Authority killed any desire for me to shop there long before they went under.

About 20 years ago I went there to buy some 357 mag ammo for my Marlin 1984CS. They refused to sell to me since it was allegedly the store policy to only sell pistol ammo to someone that possessed a NY pistol permit.

I lived in NYC at the time and to own a rifle you needed a NYC rifle/shotgun permit, which I possessed. I had the permit with me showing that I was a legal owner of a 357 mag rifle, but store management refused to sell to me.

Took my youngest there to get his first .22. Took about two hours as Troy kept bringin' up different models from down in the basement. If you don't see it, just ask. Odds are they got one in the basement or it's still in one of the unpacked boxes on the floor. Great business run by a great family.

Like CNN?

Be careful, you might start a major snow melt putting down CNN. And by the way, the Reporter that follows all the gun stories for Breitbart News has been right on.Great researcher. Do the fact checks. In fact, one of the key features of Breitbart is Posting Fake news from CNN and then posting the truth. One story in Particular here Fake news had posted certain lies about Steve Bannon. And then Breitbart shows the actual video clip featuring Bannon himself before the CNN reporting was ever done. And of course proved that CNN was the lying crapola they are.
As far as Dicks, where I live the only people that shop that store are Fake people regardless of firearms or no firearms. My brother in law for example. Loves to play up the Duck Hunting, field and stream look, with expensive Duck Hunting Jackets etc even though he would not know one end of a shotgun form the other. His two Labs will never see a Duck in their life time, unless one just happens to fly into his back yard. Yep, a typical Dick's store fan.
Dick, will eventually become bankrupt. Just a matter of time. And Good Riddance.Just wish they could take their FAKE FANS WITH THEM.

.

My problem with them is they would run stuff on sale and not have it. I saw an ad for something in the Sunday paper and was there when they opened on the first day of the sale. Went to where it would be and the clerk couldn't find it.

Manager came over and said they sold out. I was the first person in the store and asked him how that could be. He started getting belligerent at the implication. I was calm and called him a liar. He turned around and walked off. I walked out and never set foot in one of their stores again.

This is beginning to sound like another well known shooting forum that seems to have been taken over most actively with political commentary.

Which one? I'd actually like to see more political and general off-topic discussion on here. The current

I thought their gun business was hurting in general, went there once and only because I got gift cards (told the family I like academy...) No one in sight and no employees. Everything was overpriced and not a lot of things caught my eye.
