if you could only own one or the other?

Group one:
Two Savage Axis II’s chambered in your choice of cartridges. RAR and Remington 783 can be substituted for Savage Axis II.

Remington VX3 or Benelli SBE II.

Glock 19.

Group Two:
One Winchester M70 Sporter in your choice of cartridge.

A Grulla SxS in 12 or 16 Gauge.

Any CZ 9mm or a .357 Magnum(either Colt, Ruger or S&W).

Benelli

That isn't to say the other choice would be a bad choice.
. . . looks like someone else made the same choice before me. . .

I don’t think of either choice as bad or good. I think of it as an exercise in revealing members taste in firearms. Some people’s choices you can pretty much guess. I would have been surprised if Bushpilot picked choice one.

Let’s see if eastbank and .308 Norma surprise us and go with number one. I’m solid with choice number two for myself.

1. More utilitarian, firearms are tools to me. Axis in .223 and .30/06, Benelli, Glock 19 Gen 5. PM me for where to ship them ;)

Firearms are utilitarian to me but also things of beauty. A top grade Spanish or British SxS, a Rigby Highland Stalker are beautiful in my eyes. As is a Colt Python and Diamondback. Heck, I sometimes like to just sit and look at my plain Jane CZ 6.5x55. Even an AR has beauty in its ugliness.

I agree, in that I appreciate the beauty of some firearms. I think revolers look MUCH nicer than autos, but autos fit me better. I love to look at and hold walnut and blued steel, but I would rather scratch up synthetic and phosphate in the woods. So, I prefer to own shooters, but I love handling and appreciating someone else's beauty and art.

I have one Axis. Although it is very accurate with my handloads there are enough things about it to keep me from ever buying another. I'll pass on the Glock too. I have no doubts that they are good but they don't fit me and I'm not going to make me fit it.

Group 2, easy. And I haven't even gone to Google to check out what Grulla makes for shotguns.

(It would be a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 308 with the maple stock and a Leupold fixed 4x scope, coupled with a 4" S&W 586 for the rifle and handgun.)

Grulla is one of Spain's better makers of SxS.............This matched pair goes for about $16,000, although they also have some less expensive guns, especially used.

MODS - SORRY ABOUT THE PICS SIZE; PLEASE RESIZE TO ACCEPTABLE SIZE

#2 but exchange the CZ for the Glock and the M70 w/ scope for a Springfield M1A.
While I'm at it, the sxs that - I've never heard of, for a 870 Wingmaster.

So except for the Glock 19 - none of the above.

Edited to add: I own a M70 in 300 Winchester Magnum, a Savage Axis in 270 Winchester, a Springfield M1A, a Remington 870 Wingmaster, and a Glock 19. Plus S&W, Colt, and Ruger revolvers.

Both my Savage and Winchester bolt actions have plastic stocks and in my opinion - no soul.

Group 2.

But then I would sell the Grulla shotgun and use the proceeds to buy what I really wanted. I'd probably also sell the pistol and buy a Ruger Blackhawk in 30 Carbine; something I have always wanted, but not badly enough to spend the money to buy for myself.

Given a choice I would out for Group 2. The Winchester Model 70 and the CZ P01 are what sold me on that.

Can I go with neither and reorganize?

A savage isn’t a bad gun, but I would buy a 10 or 110 over an axis. Give me a .243 and a .270 win.

For shotgun I see no reason to not stay simple with a durable beater, give me an 870 or a 500 in 12 ga 3” synthetic. I would be perfectly fine with a Maverick too.

Pistols are always a trade off. If I can’t have a witness elite 10mm then I want either my m9 or a 686 6” 6 shot.
