Handgun magazines.

I’ve acquired more than I can store / organize in my safe.

What examples or methods of organizing/storing handgun magazines can you share?

personally never felt the need to keep mags in a safe. have a rolling storage unit in a closet which serves as a repository for them. we have no children around but even if you do have they can't really get in much trouble with them..........they are not firearms after all.

I've got an old plastic hard cover brief case from some long forgotten item. I throw them all in there.

Keeping them in the safe close to their respective handgun was the easy answer early on, but as time goes by, the collection grows,,,

One of the issues I ran into recently was slipping a PX4 mag in my Tanfo. Same capacity. No readily available "ID" or logo on the baseplates. Black mag/black follower/very similar rounded baseplates,,,

Slipped right in, fit flush and fired all 17 just as pretty as you please, but getting the mag back out was another story. (Field strip/wooden dowel)

Not really looking for a large 'catch all' container as much as an organizer of sorts that allows me to keep all the mags from pistol "A", separate from "B - Z", but still provides quick / easy access to all.

Mine is a parts organizer
I honestly hadn't pictured 'compact vertical' storage as much as 'drawer-like', but vertical (with color-coded identifiers for the 'similar' ones) makes a lot of sense!
A 'compartmentalized caddy' with a carrying handle in the center (or on each end) would really be nice!!!!
THANKS!!!!

I have a soft-sided pistol case for each of my pistols. I like the Walmart Fieldline Tactical cases. They can hold two pistols, have a large exterior pocket, and interior pouches for 8-10 mags. I also have smaller cases that are better for single stack pistols and revolvers.

Anyways, I buy the small plastic colored Harbor Freight dog tags, label each tag with the gun’s name (SW Shield, 92FS, etc) , and attach it to one of the plastic D rings on every case. I then keep the gun in my safe and all of its accessories (magazines, extra barrels, etc) in its case. I store the cases in a plastic storage bin.

Whenever I want to shoot, I grab my pistol from the safe, it’s case from the storage bin, and I’m all set with the exception of ammo, hearing protection, etc. It also helps because I don’t have to determine whether the magazine I pulled from my safe is for my 92FS, P226, etc. I just have to match the case and pistol. This works for me. If you only have 1-3 mags per gun, there might be better solutions. However, most of my pistols have between 3-15 mags.

I have old soft cases from Bulldog for most of my autos. They have spots for four mags, which is plenty for most. I have more mags than that for a couple of guns and handle that differently.

That's an excellent question! This problem had crept up on me--somewhat unnoticed-- like our younger cat gradually sneaking towards the older cat.

Will buy another plastic divider/organizer box at Loew's to keep extra mags in one place.
Alfsauve's solution is perfect for some of us. Why have about sixteen mags somewhat scattered between the top of a closet and the safe?

CZ PCR, Sig P6, (a pair) P228, .380 Russian Makarov.

It's even worse in the shed. I gave up on organizing stuff like this a long time ago. I just dump them on the floor, get what I need, load for the range at home, then scoop up the rest and put them back in the rubber maid. Yes, there's more elsewhere.
