.22lr, the good old days are back!

Heck, earlier this month I bought a bunch of CCI HVHP shorts (the bees' knees for shorts IMO) for a nickel a piece. Never thought I would see them that low.

Outstanding, I have a single Six, I love to shoot.

It is great! .22 of most every variety on the shelves at the local Academy Sports & Walmarts. No limits, reasonably priced. I buy a bulk pack almost every time I walk in and am accumulating my stock, because if I’ve learned anything in my life it’s this:

Ok, it helps when people don't buy everything they see. I am raising up above this nonsense. Going to buy myself police trade in Glock 22. That way I can buy myself ammo at Walmart anytime I want (local one does not lock up ammo so I don't even have to wait for store clerk). No need to tie up money for something I don't need immediately.

Now that many of us are stocked back up again the question is whether or not we'll ever experience an extended shortage such as we've just been through. Who knows.

Black Friday I stocked up on cheap bulk 22's. Haven't seen it priced this low in quite a while and vividly remember the shortage not so long ago...

The 1600 round Federal "black pack" 22's will end up being 2.5 cents per round after the rebate. Actually slightly less because I had a discount code from the online vendor I ordered from w\ no shipping or taxes added. Also found Rem Thunderbolt 500 qty bulk packs locally for 11.99 + tax which ends up being about 2.5 cents a round too.

Good deals are definitely around lately.

People should be stocking up on ammo right now within one's disposable income. If one is not then it's on them for not having forethought now; when the next shortage occurs. I'm not trying to be harsh to @paulsj but at the same time it got real old hearing about people complaining about those of us who buy during days of availability and low price. Do I have a pressing need for the ammunition I have, no. Will I be happy with the fact it doesn't go bad and given the political climate we are in has a high probability of a future shortage, taxation or ban of certain types of ammunition. Ammo prices right now are the best they've been in since 9/11, so my current money allocated to my hobby is heavy into ammo.

When the next shortage rolls around, we’re hoarders and selfish. I’ve got maybe 20k rounds of .22. Gonna get more.

The nightmares perpetrated by psychos seem to have created the impression among the Other people that such massacres can't happen any more.

Looks like need to stock up... I just found about 750 rounds of Armscor .22LR in a cabinet, probably purchased in the early 1980s. And a little .22 revolver I'd forgotten about completely.

It's going to take more than one range session to use up that much ammo, though...

I shot about 60 rounds yesterday practicing triple taps. That's out of a Federal bulk pack that I bought back in the 90's...
Yeah, I do need to shoot the 22s more.

If by chance you live around a Blains Farm Fleet, they have thunderbolts on sale for 99 cents a box of 50. I wanted to mail order 5 bricks for that price but its in-store availability only. So maybe it's in stock near you?

This week --with follow up action-- is such a good time to have bought a first .22 handgun.
This gun burns through a good bit of my Reserve .22 ammo, along with what was already consumed by the Walther P22 which a friend loaned me for about two months!

Keep in mind that one or two of those times of true "ammo anxiety" have begun with only two-three days' warning.
For those who assume that these are only caused by national elections, and have little personal initiative, can they learn from recent history, or simply follow the dusty herd leader into the Zambezi River?

People can do what they want personally I don't want to leave 20, 000 cartridges behind if I was to fall in car accident next week. With .40 G22 I can always get few boxes of Tulammo at Walmart which I pass on my way to the range.

I will buy a brick of 555 after work this morning. At Meijer's, who had like zero .22lr for a couple of years and when it did appear it was crazy expensive. Now, it's a nickel a shot. I could get it a little cheaper someplace else, but I don't have a gift card from work for that place. So, to me, it's actually free! I would buy more, but as soon as the price and shortage broke, I bought some whenever it was on sale, and have a lot stored up. I might buy a couple of $10.00 boxes of 9mm since it's basically free too.

Yep, every shortage is different... Next time, .40 might be the first to go on the endangered list. Especially since LE his going back to 9mm in many areas

Except for .22, buy bullets, primers, and powder in bulk. One pound of powder will load 1,000 or more rounds in many common pistol calibers. Get a couple thousand primers of all sizes. You can reuse your brass.

Despite having a bunch of rimfire on hand, I am thinking about buying a case of CCI standard velocity. It is awfully cheap these days. The last time I saw it this cheap was a month or so before Sandy Hook.

I keep plinking .22 on hand, and then I try to keep some CCI Mini Mag on hand for steel matches. I am pretty new to .22 pistols, so just now trying to stock up, but as mentioned, who knows how long these good times will last???
